The level of interest in our elderly citizen predicament is astounding likewise the quality of debate!

Who was it who said "the measure of any society is the way it treats its most vulnerable" or something similar?

And the measure of our society allowing starvation and hypothermia to reap the elderly amidst plenty is ????????????

Clearly members of this forum care very little, lets hope they do not find themselves in this situation soon, but having read the Casey column I believe many might well do =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Lets quote grandad "I am happy" [/quote]
Yes, let's take a quote from one topic and place into another so that it is completly out of context.
What a wan ker you realy are.

Its ALL a worry to us older persons (58), the generation ive watched edge towards the rainbow bridge had gone through WW2, they cooked real food, they budgeted, they wrapped up in cardy's and had a pot of stew on the hob, sadly the next generation (me included) have never been on the breadline, theyve grown up in a throwaway materialistic society, they wont have money for fuel when they have been down McDonalds and spent £20 on a meal, and too many have had the welfare state to prop them up, my mum and dad, and the mother-in-law are/were "old school", looked after what little they had, darned socks instead of buying new, and never claimed a penny off the state, mind you, dads pension was a waste of time, no-one told him it wasnt worth paying into......beware the reaper...

oh, and rich folk die too....

heres all you need do

calculate your rent, rates, leccy and food bills, keep your money for them

dont have Sky TV, McDonalds, processed food, mobile phones, gadgets, turn unwanted appliances off, keep heating to a sensible level, ensure your windows and doors are draught free, use a bus pass instead of a car, order online off ASDA (cheapest delivery slots).....though you will need internet access

get a thicker quilt or blankets, eat properly

my winter heating costs about £60 PCM extra so a winter fuel payment should cover it, i just dont get one though

oh, and stop fecking moaning, how many are killed by the cold in Siberia and Scandanavia?...
