2nd service this week.

Thats about it.

Will probably fit another one in before I think about a replacement cab as the warranty will be up next year.

Still waiting on a Nissan launch date.
Still awaiting Allied's so called challenge on the COF to allow the E7.
Still awaiting the electric hearse from 'metrocab'.

Choices, choices. :?:

Boom!

70MPH on motorway, trail of smoke from the rear.

I stop, switch engine off, power's all gone and engines onto half power showing the engine management light.

Left at S&B's who are 'busy and probably can't look at it until friday'.

Turbo? dunno. But it's just reached 40K.

FFS.

My money is on a turbo pipe has come off - 10 minutes to fix - worst case it is not a pipe off it is a pipe blown - still "relatively" cheap and still quick to do.

Cheers for the replies gents, it's still under warranty, but obviously I'm hoping it is the turbo and not something more catastrophic!

Should know more by Thursday.

Just as well I wasn't planning on any long shifts this week.

Perhaps I should have just called Merc 24 assist out? Might have been fixed or at least diagnosed then and there? Hmm.

Fixed. In under 24 hours by S&B at Hatfield. =D>

Nearly correct with turbo, it was the EGR valve.

Apparently not unusual with the Vito.

Was it clogged up? It needs a good thrashing with foot to the floor, them streets of London don't do it any good with you only going 20MPH.

True, but I live 40 miles outside London which gives me a nice 70mph (ish) journey home at night.

I think it was just a duff part.

Get it blanked off and the problem will disappear, just like Metro cab owners do

Don't you have to floor them to remove the soot?

Don't think you can on the Merc Skip. It's not a Superb or a Mondeo mate.

Dunno. :?

I just drive it !

The valve had failed opposed to 'sooting' up.

Anyway, its been fine this weekend and earned it's keep.

Phew.

Had a look on the Vito forums and the EGR is a common failure, and yes they can be blanked off, allegedly given better performance and economy

So the saga continues.

The latest faults are:

The front drivers window has to go all the way down before you can close it, they cleaned it up, but it started again the next again day.

The battery went flat (nothing left on) when I left it for a week. The Penzo taxi converters earthed the battery to a frame opposed to the provided floor stud, this seems to cause this known fault.

The rear o/s door opens with the dash switch when its in the mood, although typical, its working now when its due in.

I was working tonight and felt a massive loss of power coming in on the M4 from the airport, sure enough EML comes on, half power mode activated, and a sedate journey out to GBC mansion followed.

Its booked into Merc again today.

FFS, starting to loose faith in this thing, seems to be something new every two weeks.
