Auriga cannot be making anything at all from 24hours customers, why not make them happy and allow them to purchase thier own sim. It seems penny pinching from a firm of Aurigas size to collect the odd 35 pence a week from someone who has decided to go with Auriga, they obviously dont mind laying the cash out for a sim when the costing is thiers and not the customers, why not allow them to do 20,000 texts a month and keep all thier customers happy instead of just 4 wealthy punters. Do Auriga really need the 35p a week from them. From where I am standing, that is a bit of desperation to generate a bit of cash for themselves. I wonder why they feel the need to do it? Is anyone out there happy at adding that price on to the customer, I dont think so.

So it seems only us (Cabmaster) and Datamaster allow free texts to customers. I bet our no jobs are a lot less than the other companies. Happy drivers, happy customers. :D
Happy Cabmaster and Datamaster
Happy New Year and a merry Xmas to Scrooge and Co
Anyone thinking of a system will surely look at these points, companies want to save but no-one more so than the customer. You cannot fool customers in charging them for a service, they have choices and in my experience, you rip off a customer, its goobye customer.

Our firm recently had its old system replaced with Auriga.

Seems like a step backwards as far as I am concerned. Why on earth my boss swopped from a system that done the lot, textback, callback and everything else, to a system that does not do a simple thing like textback to a customer. I have had more complaints from customers who use to get texts regularly, when I have tried to explain that they get charged, and then saying, what if you still pick the wrong one up, do I get my 35 pence back. Free to the customer has to be the answer. Is there any Auriga users looking at this who do not mind charging the customer, I would love to hear from you. This simple thing must affect Auriga and I am sick of getting off my bum in this snow to look for punters who then reply 'oh I was waiting for my text'. I have fell on my arse twice.

I have enquired about Textback with the other companies and it looks like the main players, Auriga, Autocab, Cordic etc all use the same method to text customers, ie the customer pays the bill, ranging from 15p to 35p. So it seems to me that whilst they are all doing it, and making a bit of money from YOUR customers, why would they want to stop. I have spoken to some firms who have the system installed and thier attitude towards the customer is unbelievable, for example, 2 firms I spoke to in Newcastle and Manchester both said that they dont care what the customer says because they too actually make money from the textback system in use, ie 10p to the taxi firm and 25p to the textback/software company. Either the customers in those places must have too much money or there is a shortage of decent cab companies. I would not hold your breath waiting for any of them to change the way it works. (I mentioned earlier that the sim is £30 a month, its actually about £90 month but still cheap)

First thing to do is strip that sack of shit Exel call a dispatch system out, we've been promised Text back for the last 4 years, have we go it? Have we f**ck as like. Is the system running right? Is it F**k.

Our office is only 1 mile away from Exels office (as the crow flies), can we get them out to fix problems? Can we F**K as like.

Exel have promised alot of firms little add ons, have they got them? Have they F**K.

Rip it out and continue with what you had.

Is that good enough?

All I know is that should our text unit (from Datamaster) be unplugged by mistake, we end up with customers complaining they don't get textback.
They like the safety of knowing which car has been sent, a godsend for busy nightclubs or even busy supermarkets, as the customer is looking for the car.
Bill is right about the O2 sim card. £20 a month for us, knocking out over 4,000 jobs a week with not just textback for free but text booking and pre-booked text confirmation all thrown in too.

Sorry to hear so many firms pay silly money for it.

To answer the question of textback with landlines, the Datamaster unit knows the difference and rings the landline a couple of times, so make sure the Sim has about 100 minutes of talktime for those quick enough to answer their house phone. The unit can also be set not to ring landlines.

And in case you're wondering, payphones etc. can be set for no ringback at all.
