Look up "frustration of contract". It's a very good law that covers "things outside the control of you or your customer".

As a general rule I never leave a customer stranded at the airport but are far enough away for it to be a reasonable fare although it is very price competitive here. I always check for delays before leaving although many a time there is no info available although since the compensation rules came in a few years back delays seem to be a lot less common

The difference is that I have 9 other cars and drivers attached to my board so there is cover the crunch comes with 8 seater and wheelchair jobs although I try not to book anything else in too close to the airport pick up in case

I would say though that if you have been prepaid for the job and are not there when they arrive they might well attempt to recover their additional costs from you

The above is why I don't do airports.

That would depend on the terms and conditions. If you were at the airport at the sceduled time and the customer had not informed you about a 4 hour delay and the information was not available from the usual sources, would you continue to wait? Would you continue to wait and charge extra? Would you go home and refund the advance payment? Would you go home and tell the customer that because you were there on time you had completed the job so no refund?

[quote="grandad"]Draw up some decent terms and conditions. In ours we have put that waiting time is charged at £5 per 15 minutes after the first 30 minutes from the time that the flight was scheduled to land unless we have been able to confirm any delays. We also state that after 1 hour of waiting the car will return to base if it is required for other work. The customer has to stipulate at the time of booking if they want the car to wait at the waiting rate or return to base (no refund). There are tick boxes on the booking form for the customer to use.[/quot

Thats the answer whack em with waiting time Grandads got it right here I always did something similar :D

If they had Booked and pre-paid for a Hotel for an evening and couldn't make it there on the night due to a late plane, or even missed a plane due to a late running taxi...Im fairly certain their would be no refund heading back to them. why should we have to operate under a different set of expectations from the public as anyone else does.
