So you had no additional costs at all on top of Bills system charges. I really do find that hard to believe...........(jumps back as all the Bill supporters jump out to defend him)[/quote]

Well here is a FACT for you..... I as a Datamaster Customer actually phoned Bill to ask for a support contract as after 3 months of going live on pda's i felt I was actually taking the p*ss not paying for the service I was receiving totally free of charge. I was never asked or pushed into taking out support it was totally left up to me. The people working for Datamaster bent over backwards to help me make the changeover from radio to data and made me feel nothing was too much trouble and the amount of work put in to make things work how we wanted them too was incredible(Steve/Slick take a bow) I can honestly say that Bills words to me were that we will never have to pay anything other than the support contract charge for anything to do with the Datamaster system even including if we get viruses etc on the system and to this day we have never been charged for anything other than the support contract. With regard to the support contract that we pay monthly for there is almost always one of the team online on MSN(Sam and Matt who never sleep!!) for support whenever you need help so all in all in my opinion (taking into account Diplomats and others hourly/daily support charges) there is no company out there that can match Datamasters value for money but they only way to see is give them a trial and see for yourself
Regards
Richard

Right here's what it's cost us in 5 years with Excel, their free to use software has cost us £25,000 which equates to £5,000 per year but, you can only buy it in two year blocks they won't sell it for one year. They'll hammer you for 20%APR on top of the £10,000 it costs for a two year deal.

Data charges are over £150 per month payable to Excel.

There's also the callback charges because Excel charge for it.

They also charge £20 per hour if you need the support line for anything.

The 5 years we've had it installed it's cost us something in the region of £75,000 in licence fees for the software, data charges, etc etc.

We are also running on the old PDA's which are 5 year old, they aren't fit for purpose.

Diplomat's £275 is a bargain compared to the above.

Oh by the way, my PDA has given up the ghost anyone want to give me one for free?

And BTW Paul, I said that Diplomat’s set up price was very low, not high and words about people being stupid enough to think they can just pay £290 to automate their business is a poke at stupid people not Diplomat.

For the record and most especially for you Paul, our prices are openly published on our website, which clearly you’d have not bothered to check before typing.

I am sure there are costs associated with your system that are external to what you charge that the customers might not be aware of.

The only way to be sure is to know the facts and clearly you don’t.

I challenge you to find any of our customers who have been charged for anything they thought should have been included.

Finally Paul, try to understand the difference between the words “I am sure” and “I think” when criticising others on a public forum. It’s plain good manners and could keep you out of a lot of trouble.

If you read what I have sated COSTS EXTERNAL to what you charge. This is simple enough to understand. Charge for landlines for things like callback, you dont pay for the installation of the BT line and upkeep of it. Thats an EXTERNAL cost. Cost of caller id output from phone system if setup is require or even a part or even an upgrade (as I found out a few years ago) again an EXTERNAL cost.

Putting cat5 cables throughout the building and extra power points etc. Again an EXTERNAL cost.

So DONT get your knickers in a twist. I did not say that your company had hidden charges,

There’s no twist in my knickers Paul just like the fact there’s nobody out there that’s ever had a quote from me where all the additional costs were not explained. It’s called being honest with people and letting them know what a system truly costs rather than them having to find out the hard way.

If an apology for the insinuation and calling my words “snide remarks” is too hard for you then so be it, just don’t do it again.
