Why not just copy and paste it so that us that don't use facebook can view it as well?

A LETTER TO THE ENEMY

I am writing this letter as a very digruntled wirral satelitte driver , please forgive me if i come across angry .. rest assured though i am not the only driver that feels this way, the majority are just either to lazy or to scared to do what i am about to do !

Its currently 11:30pm on a saturday night and i have got time to start to write my letter witch says it all re
ally.

I am sure you wont be aware as of yet but the plan is to form a drivers assotion for satellite drivers .. This shouldnt be to difficult with power of social networking and word of mouth !

Here are a few points i would like to make .

Recruitment

You are continualy taking on new drivers even to the point of advertising in the local job centre. Please dont deny this as i speak to many of them and there are new faces every week , please do not say we need them for busy weekends ! Busy weekends is all we as drivers have got to claw back are money and try to make ends meet !!!

Hard times and satelite taking advantage of these times

Times are becoming harder all of the time with job cutts etc and it is all to easy for people to become a taxi driver, hell wirral satellite will even help you become one (job centre add) but why wouldnt satellite do this as its an extra £103 a week in there pocket .. The point here being , more drivers for satellite(more£££) less work for the current drivers on an already poor system and add to that the fact there is less people using taxi services due to lack of money!!

Advertising..

Ok so satellite have now got an app for iphone, am yet to meet a customer that is actually aware of it.. The app has flaws though, it cant be used during busy times for obvious reasons , but this is when customers are more likely to have a need for the app due to the telephone lines being over loaded !
Or maybe they will use it to avoid confrontational and rude telephonists !!

Being a driver ..

Its quite obvious that drivers are simply not making enough money for the hours and un-sociable hours they are putting into the job ..

For me the solution is to give the drivers the ability to work part time by reducing settle to a pay by each day worked rate, ie. ... the 103 diveded by 7 (£14.70) £89 for part time is hardly a saving on the £103 . The average outgoings for a full time or part time driver settling a vehicle including fuel is £360 or£320 ..

mon to friday 9-5 driver ??
Daily earning £80, £100
Outgoings £360

Profit made for a 40 hour week £140 if the driver is lucky enough to make £100 a day (unlikly)

Weekend driver

Friday (12 hours) 150/200
Saturday (12hours) 180/200
Sunday (8hours) 80/100

Total 500

Outgoings 340

Top line profit of £160 for a unsociable 32 hours of work??

A bit of both !

3 weekdays (24 hours) £300
Friday (12 hours) £180
Saturday (12 hours) £200

Total of £680
Thats a Profit of £300 for 48+ hours including weekend nightshifts ,

And NOTE that the earning figures i have used are very optimistic and best case scenario !!

..

All is not lost though as xmas is around the corner !!

Owww no wait !! Satellite will take an extra £50 from us for there increased running costs ! What happened to our xmas bonus ? We are being charged extra because we are making a little bit extra for working xmas when we should be at home with our family !!

Do we pay you less when we dont make enough ? No ..

Thanks drivers

Thanks for doing that, do you think it would be ideal to re-post it in the LC section so they can see it and chew it over, something needs to be done about these PH companies, they are abusing their drivers left right and centre, an interesting thing is where he say do we pay you less when it's quieter, the real solution is to force them to charge driver by job so he pays only for what they supply, no supply no rent, that way everyone gets a fair deal.

All the PH companies here have permanent signs "Drivers Required" and ads in the Job centre- help to get a badge etc. The operators don't really care about driver takings.
It's like all the ads for landlords wanted for empty pubs.
I worked one week in a company car for one- £260 per week rental. 50 hours work = £600 takings -£100 diesel-£260= £240> £4.80 an hour less NI and tax. When I complained they said "Tough" Left there sharpish.

Sorry didn't think to cut and paste the original post on this page. It being facebook it has lots of comments, some of which are rather interesting. It will be dealt with the same way as it was dealt with the last time it happened at Satellite. I don't blame the guy who started this page for remaining anonymous. I will cut and paste a particular comment made by somebody as it's a rather strange one and I don't think he's right but we'll see what everybody else thinks  Thanks to Mr PH for copying and pasting :D

Agree with a lot you say. One interesting point, by law any company, even for self employed, has to guarantee that earnings for hours worked will equate to or above minimum wage. There is, I feel, a case for this not being achievable on a standard hour week of 37 hours. Food for thought.

Not my comment but interested to know what others think

The comment is nonsense!

As usual theres a lack of Unity amonsgt the Drivers so Mr Proprietor runs riot over them and fills his boots with £££££££££ talk of a Drivers ass crap join a UNION GMB UNITE RMT would all help out.

A PH Proprietor is an Agent he runs an agency selling work so hes vulnerable to United action In London we would just BLACK all his account work on a particular day without notification surprisingly this normally gets him around the table, but of course once youve got him talking you need to have ONE list of agreed demands, ANY SIGN OF DIVISION WILL IMMEDIATELY BE JUMPED ON.

TOOTS PERHAPS YOU CAN GET THIS ADVICE TOO THIS DRIVER ???????????? :D :D

A quote I hear often.

"If all the taxi drivers fell into a river of superglue, they would not stick together!"

Perhaps I'll suggest he joins TDO. I don't actually know who it is but perhaps if I send a message to him he'll chat. I'll certainly post it this info on his page :D

Well I've sent him a link to the page on TDO and suggested he join the site but as to whether he will I don't know. That aside he may not like what he reads, it's never going to be easy for the ph drivers. They need a nice company :D

one phrase stands out

"PUT UP OR SHUT UP"

whingeing drivers are nothing new, no-one forces them to be there, other bases do exist, and proper self-employment (DIY) is available if they dare it......
