Am I the only one who finds all this a bit sickening?
Where were all these concerned people when something could have been done to stop Saville?
Now all queueing up to hang the corpse.
This, for instance:
Quote:
TV presenter and founder of the charity ChildLine, Esther Rantzen, is backing a petition to have him stripped of his knighthood, which if left unchecked, she said "taints the whole honours system".
In an interview with Sky News, Rantzen, who worked at the BBC alongside Savile, added: "From my point of view, [the revelation] absolutely wrecks the image of a charity fundraiser and the friend of royalty and the friend of a prime minister.
"For me now, I'm afraid, Jimmy Savile will be remembered as a predatory p*edophile."
She worked at the BBC with Saville, where his habits were an open secret. She set up Childline to protect kids from exactly this sort of abuse.
Where was she when all this was going on FFS. Worrying about her career and not rocking the boat with the others, I suspect.
Happy enough to jump on the bandwagon now he's dead and it's safe to do so.
I had to smile when I heard that childline is offering these "victims" counciling. Some of them must be in their 60s now.
Can you strip a dead person of a Knighthood? I thought that unless it was an hereditory title, it died with the person.
At the end of the day, the guy is dead now and he can't harm anyone. What do these women actually want after all this time?
