My mother was from Invernesshire and had an Irish Grandmother, the rest were Highland stock. Mostly Gaelic, these ancestors were ethnically cleansed by the British Government during the 18th Century and replaced with sheep. Much to the dismay of some, they missed my particular line.
My father's family were Glasgow-Irish, their forebears coming here to escape the potato famine of the 19th Century. Again mostly Gaelic but some lowland Scots in the mix.
And yes, there probably is a bit of Viking in there somewhere. Most of us have some Viking blood in us. They raped and pillaged their way through most of the British Isles during the 1st millenium, settling some of the islands and large parts of the mainland.
I believe Dublin was originally a Viking settlement, and much of England was once known as The Danelaw and under Viking control.
Yaks not being a common creature in Scotland, Ireland or Scandanavia, I doubt there would have been much call for yak gelding and AFAIK none of my ancestors hailed from Tibet, China, Mongolia or Siberia.
