We have had a person phone us up occassionally every time they phone they have no money but will "pay the driver at the rank later" The problem is that every time they pay the money to a driver from Gangsta cabs not us the first occasion the driver did pass the money on to one of my drivers the second time nothing but the passenger says they paid the fare to a particular driver from gangsta cabs who has clearly pocketed the money. The third time I flatly refused to pick them up and told them to phone gangsta cabs as that is the only taxi firm they will hand the money to

I have come up with possible courses of action

1) do nothing

2) send an email to the company CCing the licensing department reminding them that in law there is such a thing as theft through keeping

3) Attempt to lodge a complaint with the police about the driver keeping the money

Opinions please gents note that the amount of money is small only £2.80

Just say to her next time you use us pay for both fares.

Then there will either not be a next time, or you will get the money.

Do you suppose I could get some stuff from Tesco and pay Asda the money next week?

It's pretty simple really, "don't pick her up again".

The same happens all the time in Sunny Strangemouth. (Deferred payment, that is). The difference being it's only regulars who invariably pay the right driver, or one from the same company. In the above case I'm afraid she'd be visiting Shoe Fayre on a regular basis, due to the walking incurred.

The punters haven't got how much to pay the whole fare?

£2.80 and they haven't got that much?

FFS, I wouldn't be ar$ing about for that fare.

In Brum that would take them 187.5 yards in a hackney and nowhere in a PHV, as all their minimum charges are between £3.50 and £4.50.

In our neck of the woods flagfall ids £1.70 £2.80 is less than a mile but I do at least 30% of my fares under that amount not very often sub £2.00 these days
