'Taxi' driver Christopher Halliwell in court accused of murdering Becky GoddenA 'taxi' driver has appeared in court charged with murdering a 20-year-old woman whose body was found in a field over eight years after she disappeared.
What if your landlord threatened to evict you for asking them to deal with a leak? People are faced with this decision every year, but that has now changed.
Father-of-three Christopher Halliwell, 52, is accused of killing prostitute Becky Godden, who was last seen on December 27, 2002.
Her remains were found in a shallow grave in a farmer's field in April 2011 in Eastleach, Gloucestershire.
Halliwell, of Swindon, Wiltshire, was charged with Becky's murder by Wiltshire Police on March 30.
He appeared at Bristol Crown Court before Judge Neil Ford QC and was represented by barrister Daren Samat.
Dressed in a brown jacket and white t-shirt, Halliwell, spoke only to confirm his name.
Becky's mother, Karen Edwards, sat in the public gallery along with other family members during the afternoon hearing.
The case, which will be prosecuted by Nicholas Haggan QC, was adjourned until a date to be fixed.
Halliwell has not been asked to enter a plea but it is anticipated that there will be a trial, which would be expected to last around six weeks and take place before September.
Becky, of Swindon, Wiltshire, would have celebrated her 34th birthday this coming Monday.
