Just because a few unfortunate wheelchair users have no option but to use a four wheeled goldfish bowl for transport the majority of wheelchair users don't, a saloons what they prefer and a saloon is what I give them.....I am in fact catering for the majority of the disabled out there. And we never encouraged the volunteers because we failed to supply the service in the first place, I made enquiries with our council years ago about putting on a wheelchair accessible minibus, they just dismissed the idea out of hand at the time, since then they went gooey eyed over the charity sector and sponsored them to the hilt...so you are wrong in saying it was our own complacency which let these lot in the door.

Are you really that dillusional that you think all wheelchair users can just jump out of the chair and into a saloon car ? Maybe youve been watching too much little britain. Granted a lot of people prefer saloons but a lot of people bypass them for wav thats why theres a choice.

Are you blind or Just Ignorant...If you are suffering from either or both then I'll highlight the bit that debunks your comment..

Just because a few unfortunate wheelchair users have no option but to use a four wheeled goldfish bowl for transport the majority of wheelchair users don't.

Why should the preferences of some overrule the needs of others?

If you ASKED you would find 90% of wheelchair users would prefer to transfer to a normal car seat rather than be pushed up ramps and strapped in a "WAV".....

That is correct, it's the norm round here anyway.

Most can, you'll find them who are confined to a wheelchair have a carer full time.

And why should the Preference of a very small minority of WAV obliged Wheelchair users overrule the needs of the Vast majority of saloon prefering Wheelchair users...I advocate catering for both in whatever type of vehicle they chose...But your arguing that no matter what they think they,ll have to take a WAV or nothing and thats no choice at all.

Ive never known a 100% wheelchair-bound person who didnt qualify for a mobility car and didnt have a carer, why should ALL the hack fleet of some areas be given over to duplicating what theyve got?...

but if you want to invest £20K in the sure certainty the next wheelchair job is yours, be my guest

You are confusing need with prefer #-o

They may prefer a saloon but they can still use a WAV, just like the majority of able bodied people.

This 10% (and I still dispute wannabee's made up figure) need a WAV. They cannot use a saloon.

Personally I think it's all just BS anyway. The only preference you are serving is your own.

Well that's ok then. Just so long as you don't have to be bothered with them.

BTW, most able bodied people have access to a car. Why do you suppose any of them use taxis?

My WAV didn't cost anything like that much and much to bloodnock's surprise looks nothing like a goldfish bowl.
In fact your Mondeo probably cost more.

Not at all.....I'm just stating that not everyone wants or needs a WAV, as a wheelchair user, they have a right to to travel by Saloon if they so wish...

Its obviously stupid to insist ALL hacks are WAV's, im sure when the DisDis act came about 15 or so years ago it was an intended aim that fleets were 25% WAV's, that would be sensible, well it would if the volunteer and social transport section werent all WAV's, it kinda takes the pee for a LA to insist ALL hacks are WAV's then back volunteer groups, especially when they operate wrecks....

Your right.
It would make far more sense to have PH made all WAV, since 99.9% of wheelchair users actually book in advance
