Well in February i have to get a new taxi, at the moment i have a February 2008 Octavia classic with 120,000 miles. It is in pretty good shape the interior is excellent always had seat covers on and over the nearly 5 years i have had it its had a wheel bearing, steering rack, new brake pads, new brake discs, one brake caliper, a new timing belt, many services, one new bumper and tail light and it is going to get a clutch and flywheel plus the thrush bearing. its been a good car but the time is nearing to sell it i'm looking for a rough figure of £2000 and that will straight for the deposit of a new car. but i can't decide whether to get a used Skoda Octavia with about 10,000 miles from Arnold Clark SE spec or a brand new superb S spec from the taxi center both 1.6's TDI. you get 70 MPG with the Octy and its cheaper But about 65 MPG with the Superb and its dearer BUT its a bigger car and you get ESP, front fog lights and a arm rest and the fancy boot saloon/hatchback hard choice.

Just get the single clutch system its cheaper than the DMF,
Why get rid of it, mine is a 55 plate and on 218,000 and still going strong, but you have had more work done to yours than I have, so now that you have nearly sorted it keep it for another 2 years and save up.
An Octy of that age and mileage is worth around £4500 to £5000, to trade its worth around £3500, you can get a rough value from looking at the cars on auto trader or some of the free valuation sites on google

Buy a new one.

The warranty is worth the extra IMO.

are you sure, remember it's been a taxi i was quoted £2040 on Webuyanycar.com, and my council only allow private's and generals on for 5 years and the hacks are allowed on for 10, i don't know what to get though your 4 year finance with the Octavia and 5 year with the superb my Brother bought a new superb in May and he says the space is very good compared to his old Octavia and you get about 15 MPG more with the 1.6 TDI Superb compared with 1.9 TDI PD octy

Webuyanycar.com they always try to get cars cheaply
Are you a hack or PH, if PH your counsil needs to be told 5 years is not enough and need to bring the age up to 10
You can get a new skoda from the taxi centre, http://www.thetaxicentre.com/
Then put yours on ebay with a starting bid of £3500

What kind of dumbo council are you licensed by?

How can a PH, usually driven by one owner driver, only be allowed for 5 years, yet a hackney, often driven by several different drivers, be licensed for 10 years? :?

i'm a private mate, used to own a general 5 year ago but sold the plate miss going to the rank but hey ho, i like the look of the taxi centre and the new superb is quite tempting, i agree with the ebay auction i might just do that and i'v got an E bay account

quite silly how they do it years ago i just used sierra's and used to change engines on them etc, but in 2004 they changed the rules that all the Generals must be white and all PH'S and taxi's must be 5 years old or younger and hacks and euro buses 10 year old my mate who is a taxi driver got his plate taken off him cause his Passat was over 5 year old never seen the necessity for it a new car can brake down and a 10 year old car could brake down the council i'm with is North Lanarkhire council Scotland

no hacks are only classed as London taxis, all saloons does not matter whether PH or taxi they can only stay for 5 years

Mine only has 120,000 on it i don't know whether to just trade it in and see how much they offer me or sell it privately i'l have to see closer the time, i'l probably just get a superb as i'l then be the 1'st registered keeper what is a bonus and the space is also very good.
