Are the hacks saloons as well??
no hacks are only classed as London taxis, all saloons does not matter whether PH or taxi they can only stay for 5 years

Contact your councilor and state that saloon drivers are being disadvantaged in this bleak recession, and ask that saloons can also be brought up to the same age as hacks
Must be the only council that has this age policy most will licence a vehicle at that age
We have a 7 year 11 month one, but if the vehicle passes its test at 7/10 it can be granted a further 3 year licence

here saloons (PH or HC) 1st plate/grant max age 4 years, max age to plate till 6 years but they can "age exempt" and go on 4 month plates but max mileage applies 200K

"purpose built" 1st plate max 10 years old...

what purpose built includes im not sure

this rule started in 2005 and as annoyed alot of the drivers that they have just finished paying finance on a car and have to start all over again to stay in the business, i don't see the point in it but i'l just get a car from the taxi centre and with a bit of luck they might come down in price with the new skoda Rapid coming into play next month
