We had a party of 12 to take over to Leicester for Diwali last night as they were going to be picked up again 2 and a half hours later I decided to wait a couple of miles up the road so parked up off troon way and walked up onto the railway bridge to watch some of the fireworks. I stood there for nearly an hour and there must have been a firework going off every single second and this was still going at half past nine when we picked the party up again ! A lot of the fireworks were quite big ones too so must have cost a lot of money and I am told this goes on from 4 in the afternoon till midnight so there must have been a million quids worth let off in one night in Leicester !

On the way back one of my party was telling me that the word Diwali in India also means bankrupt I'm not surprised

Only if your paying for the pyrotechnics!

The name "Diwali" or "Divali" is a contraction of "Deepavali" (Sanskrit: दीपावली Dīpāvalī), which translates into "row of lamps"
