Taxi Driver Online

I had a driver from another company come round a week or so ago to see what I could offer him if he came and drove one of my cars. He is currently on a split bag where he gets 40%. I told him that with my cars it would cost him 40 pence a mile for the first 200 miles per week and then additional miles would be at 33 pence per mile. I told him that I could offer him no guarantees of work except that he would be able to do a school contract. Also that he would be keeping a greater proportion of what ever money he did take and that he was free to get his own customers. He decided not to take me up on the offer. I was talking to him last night and he was telling me that on Friday he took £133.00 in a total working time of 17 hours. His cut was £53.20. I asked him how many miles he had driven to take this £133.00 and because most of the journeys were less than 2 miles he had covered 95 miles. I pointed out that at that mileage it would have cost him no more than £38.00 so he would have kept £95.00. He said that he was happy with the £53.20. Well you can't please them all.

Most drivers in my experience fiddle,me included when I was such years ago.Drivers learn from each other.I would't take what he say's as gospel!

depends how keen the company he is working for are at checking the meters mileages and recording jobs if the company keeps close tabs on the drivers it would be quite hard to fiddle as the meters record what they read and totals for the night/week or whatever can be obtained

17 hours for 133 quid? Blimy that's dire.

17 hours work a day in Brum 30 years ago would have grossed three time that figure on any day.

So you worked 3-5 days every fortnight.

Now you'd be luck to match that figure and it would be impossible to achieve on some days.

Better than we can do round here most some days

If I remember correctly "my old mate" was a dab hand at making sure he got all his benefits so no doubt his drivers do there are a few drivers round here that are very careful not to earn too much
