The point yous are missing is WE ALREADY HAVE THE APP, one has it for the I-PHONE and one has it for the ANDROID, its free as its part of our radio dues etc, we DON'T need another provider, the customer gets a great service and thousands have signed up, we even have the drivers to do the work

We are not like other cities we are adapting all the time to the times including embracing technology, hey its over a year now

Don't tell anyone though

We have the apps on radio companys to had it over a year also, but this is about being on the streets .I and many dont wish to be on a company and pay fees to directors/bosses ect.Why cant we have a share ? So maybe your not as adaptable as you think.

Thats great down there Blackpool but we have the booking office licence, regulations, Criteria etc to protect us but we don't really need that as Edinburghs APP market is all sown up

In London Hailo and Get taxi have taken a massive amount of work and accounts away from the London PH trade.

Why should people call a circuit and pay extra when most of the apps operate as a virtual hail? (as in the customer gets in and the meter starts)

Why stand out in the street in the rain when you can push a button on your phone for the same price as stopping a taxi in the street? Punters LIKE the system!

Hailo charge 10%, Get Taxi £1 per cash job, or 10% for account jobs.
Theres been some serious money put into developing these apps, so why object to them getting their money back?

I'd ignore this latest development at your peril. Its only going to get bigger.

Ask Addison Lee who are cutting their PH car fleet by 600. Coincidence?

Its taken off in London, it'll spread accross the UK over the next couple of years.

Watch this space. =D>

Well if you're right, you have nothing to worry about.

I think if this takes off, it could be the finish of traditional offices.

And for those drivers who don't want to shell out Edinburghs ridiculous circuit fees? (remind me how much a 'position' is? :D )

This is a great tool for the majority, no ones stopping the circuit drivers using their own ones, but for the taxis that work the ranks, its potential extra work for a fraction of what the radio crew charge.

Drivers will make or break it, card everyone and tell everyone. It'll grow.

Personally I can't wait,I think we are reaching the point where the trade is in dire need of recalibration of some sort here in Edinburgh since they messed things up, bring it on.

But didn't one of the taxi trade mags say that they are now encroaching on taxi account work?

Who? Ph or get taxi?

Both are, although Get Taxi has taken quite a few from PH and the Taxi circuits.

The Edinburgh tariff also allows the driver to add a 60p callout fee to the meter, so for me that imo means i add 40p only to pay the server or nothing for cabapp.:

CHRISTMAS when was the last time you drove a cab in Edinburgh?
Try 80p
well spotted, All the better then.
Its chrismas btw, nothing to do with Santa.lol.
Are you going to try an app?[/quote]
The company l drive with/for have had an App for about a year and no l will not be joining the rivals one. In any event l doubt City Cabs will tolerate their owners/drivers using any competitors Apps.
