I am told that they are now looking at getting licensed in NEWCASTLE.

T.T did you see the above address?

Given that they are looking to licence in Newcastle, that may change things?

Well it's a step in the right direction.

Another question if you dont mind,

Having licensed there drivers in Northumbria, is there anyway that they (PCS) would not have to similarly licence the vehicles with Northumbria as well?

The booking office, vehicles and drivers all have to be licensed in the same authority.

That was my understanding.

I dont know where they claim the booking office is but they are based in Cheshire.
I have been told that they are not licensing there cars.

All this licensing and different authorities having differnent policies seems a bit odd to me as someone on the outside looking in.

It seems they have found some "loophole" here??

I have read the thread "Out of area vehicle spot checks", and it seems to me anyway that because they are licenced in Northumbria the local Licensing authorities down here cant inspect them. Correct me if I getting this wrong.

For example they have everyday around midday something in the region of 50 cars at Manchester Airport not licensed with anyone being driven by people licensed in Northumbria. But seemingly nobody has the will or the power to do anything?

One of my mates, who is licensed by his LA and the vehicle is also licensed does work for this company at Birmingham airport. legally he should not be accepting a booking because he is licensed in a different area to PCS.

you are correct, and that's the problem with licensing vehicles that will operate miles from their own area.

Would that be PCS who got turfed off Manchester airport a few years ago and then re-emerged as a chauffeur service for Emirates? If that is the case I have been assured by Manchester City Council that the cars are all licensed in Manchester. When I asked why their operation was based in Preston Brook, Cheshire, they refused to answer.

They haven't found a loop-hole, just a clueless council.
