Hi All,

Some interesting and some witty posts. I agree that of course some Unions provide representation for member drivers and that's great. However, we have a busy department dealing with all manner of PH and Hackney issues. Somme of these drivers either are not member of such organisations and some are. The point is, represented by the Union lawyer or not, we need to have more access to legal advice and representation by those who are competent in this area of law (which can be tricky to navigate) For many years now I have many local authorities give hard working drivers a bad deal for no good reason.

As to fees, we feel our fees are sensible and appropriate. We are happy to quote on a case by case basis. However, I think the question is, what is your livlihood worth to you? Union lawyer or not, Get represented and be heard!! We have helped many many drivers who now possibly would not be on the road and look forward to helping many others.

nah of course he wouldnt but if hes any good maybe he should approach various Unions and offer his services naturally we or they would want to Unionise his office  which shouldnt be a problem should it Kuldip :?: :?:There could be a load of work for your company through Union connections and your advice" Get represented and be heard" needs to be heeded :D :D

See Sherlocks done a bunk obviously didnt fancy having his staff represented and heard what about it Kuldip, surely your staff should follow your advice to other workers ?? "GET REPRESENTED AND BE HEARD" any good on employment LAW are you?? never mind we are :D :D :D :D

TT, I can see you are an out & out Union man, I have to say I'm not, but do recognize the importance of protection.... For £140 a year it has to be good value. why do most cabbies balk at the idea? Is it down to "well it won't happen me" kind of thinking or is it all down to money, or just plain stupidity and ignorance? The first time I ENCOUNTERED A POLICE PROSECUTION some years ago which ended up going to court I had to find 1300 quid for a barrister, which eventually was paid back as I was acquitted innocent of all charges.... After that fiasco I contacted the GMB and haven't looked back. On two OTHER occasions the GMB Solicitors have saved my bacon AND PROVED the LA here wrong!! Others have seen this to, so have joined in fits and starts, but I have no idea how many members we have here....
