Gusmac, I think it is true to say. You only get the politicians and as a consequence the government you deserve.
In other words, ignorant stupid people in the majority, get what they deserve.

Now I would like to think. You wish to educate yourself, so as not to be in the ignorant stupid majority.
I also think it fair to say, if we all educated ourselves on how government really works. We would have the government of our choosing and the country you desire. :-|

So you see Gusmac, change starts with people like you, or don’t you agree? :-k

Now answer a straight question, do you actually believe what you wrote in response to bloodnock?

Quote:
The whole point of a consultation period is so that everyone can have their input and the right balance achieved. You should take part and make sure your views are heard.

Consider the above as part of your education, on the road to changing Scotland for the better.

No answers then Skull? Just more questions.

Thats the problem with self education. There's nobody to tell you when you've got it wrong. Even if there was, I doubt you'd listen.

Of course, if you are right, it means that all those south of the border who have taken part in the LCs consultation have wasted their efforts. HMG will just ram through what they wanted anyway. They might as well have not bothered.

Truth is, whether your right or wrong, you haven't got a scooby what to do about it.

You're just a heckler from the cheap seats with no answers. :P

Gusmac, I’ve answered your questions. You simply choose not to see it.
To have the Government and ultimately the Scotland you want, you need an educated public.

I can prove I am right in everything I have said. I’ve made nothing up.

If you want we can start with what you have written above, do you really believe this is how the consultation period works?

The truth is Gusmac, If you are not part of the solution, you are the problem. You want to remain ignorant. :-|

Oh and Gusmac, I’m not the one making stupid comments to cover up for my ignorance of the situation. :-|

Do yourself a favour Gusmac, and read what Lord Levenson has proposed with regards to regulating the press. He wants an independent arbiter with real teeth. Strangely enough, that's exactly what I said should happen with politicians and local authorities. :-|

You have not answered my question Skull. Maybe in your mind you think you have, but you haven't.
You have asked your own questions instead & answered some of those

You've also been a patronising prick, but that's not new either.

BTW you'd have to provide a solution before anyone could be part of it. #-o

Start with this consultation. What do you suggest we do about it?

No. The consultation period is to let you believe your opinion actually counts. And the truth is, for the most part, it doesn't. Consultation is simply used to gauge public response to what they intend to ram through anyway.

As far as MacAskill and his ilk are concerned, Scotland will be shaped in their image, and not yours. And do you know why Gusmac, because you don't matter and they don't care.

Honestly Gusmac, the naivety of some of the things you come out with just blows me over. #-o

So who and how did they come up with the proposed changes Skull, did they consult stakeholders or did one man in an office come up with all this common sense?

Straight forward

Again the Medallion system fits the BILL :D :D :D

As an individual who is/was concerned about how our trade was going i totally agree with Tightening the grip, god ive been saying it for long enough :D :D :D

Ah Regulated Restriction, even tougher than i thought :D :D :D

Im sure i had INPUT :D :D :D

The “independent” consultation process is a mechanism used to get the answers they want in support of their policies. They do not send consultants out to come back with contradictory answers to shoot down their own proposals. It’s that simple. In other words, they get what they pay for. Oh and as for involving stake holders in the process, it’s merely a means of paying lip service to those affected by their policies. The real purpose of the consultation process is to gauge opposition to their proposals and to cover their backs, if things happen to go pear shaped, the Edinburgh Trams debacle being a case in point.

Oh and it’s no accident. A lot of politicians end up working for the very consultancy agencies they hired to do their dirty work during their tenure in office, ex-head of the council Donald Anderson being another case in point.

As for a solution to the above, I’ve said it all before, and I think Lord Levenson has proven my point. You need an educated public coupled with an independent arbiter with real teeth to hold your politicians to account.

What’s good for the goose...? :-|

Oh and Gusmac, you and your band of little tartan people would be better served educating each other to achieve the above, because without it, it’s just more of the same. :-|

Is there an echo in here?

Looks like I need to make the question simpler for you.

Should Bloodnock take part in the consultation or should he just bend over and take it up the chokky box?

Over to you skull

Bloodnock, would be wasting his time taking part in the consultation. I've explained how it works and why, so once again, until you change the system you'll be taking up the as* anyway. :-|

And the echo you keep hearing is me telling you the truth of the situation, repeatedly. #-o

Now if you and the other little tartan people actually educated yourself, and gave your support on condition, the political mechanism was put in place to represent your interests before that of the wealthy elite or the political class. You just might get the Scotland you want. Until then, you are deluding yourself, if you believe that, anything will change through Independence.

Oh and spare me the, “ when we have independence” speech, because once they are in power, there’s no going back, and they don’t need you. :-|

Now I've got a question for you Gusmac, do you believe I am telling the truth about how the consultation process really works and why? :-|

I believe that you believe it.

I also believe that you are sure you are 100% right and that you cannot ever entertain the possibility that you could be wrong.
