Again, I don't know where you get your information from because my son does not have anything deducted from his benefits for the outstanding fines.

I've got a very good source.

I take it mrs sussex works for the courts then ?

There is a case locally of a girl who used to use our cabs who was trusted by a number of elderly people both at the nursing home she worked and neighbours in her street she helped herself to thousands of pounds got caught and has now got to repay the princely sum of just £1 to one of her victims who has since passed away

I think it is fair to say that the bigger the scumbag you are the less you have to repay to your victims or society in general

and ref the OP I think it is fair to say that in this day and age you are not allowed to speak your mind

oohhh yessss, a lifetime not being able to get a job by having a criminal record (worse still with a custodial), when he has a family and kids to support and gets asked "do you have a criminal record" he may begin to regret his past ways.

Well I fully trust it.

However I suggest you ring the listings office at your local Magistrate's Court and ask for the times of the Fines Enforcement Court, and sit in the gallery and watch and listen.

We don't have a local magistrates court. It was closed earlier this year. When it was open and the press reported on court hearings, I don't recall a fines enforcement court.

They (the courts) cant take what someone hasn't got, that's obvious, and cant take so much from benefits as to cause distress, so their hands are tied, yes they can send a non-payer to prison but the cost more to keep inside than the fines were worth, plus they get 1/3rd off for good behavior! Im not sure but I dont thinks fines can be chased by bailiffs either.

Its usually only the threat of prison that gets someone to cough up but only if the threat IS a threat, someone who owes £500 may not object to 10 days inside to clear it

Before the days of the CSA courts imposed and collected maintenance and any arrears meant a warrant could be issued, the CSA is, by comparison, a toothless tiger

I do not agree with you there. The CSA are like another Irish terrorist organisation.

The CSA has massive powers.

But they are the most useless organisation in the country, by a mile.

Any AP* is well able to avoid them, often by ignoring mail! (or swapping jobs, or going self-employed)

depends what the courts impose, if hes on the Giro he might not even have to pay £5

The lad in question was out with older work colleagues so that clearly isn't the case, there was no reference to him having lost his job due to the court case either. Personally I'd have had him clean the cab on a weekly basis if it was me
