I be thinking about this today and I still think an age is need to keep fleet good BUT 3 or maybe 2 year would be better

reason is car price and if little man cant aford car no more big man move in and every man his slave

I think you need to think about it some more because what you are saying does not make much sense.
You are saying that if the little man can't aford a car then the big man can't move in. :?

I read it that if the 'little man' can't afford to purchase a vehicle then the 'big man' will do it for him and rent it out.

Clearly that council hasn't worked out that you cannot zone PH.

So the standards for PH should have been standardized on day one, not three years down the line.

The PH as you point out are NOT zoned and have not been since the inception of the new council.

The main points of this exercise are to harmonise the conditions for the Hackney Carriages from the 3 former zones with a view to removing the zones.

As it stands we have 3 different fare stuctures 3 different sets of vehicle conditions and 2 zones delimited with 1 limited.

Whatever the final outcome there are going to be a lot of unhappy people.

Having said that everyone involved has had the opportunity to have a say but despite all the moaning there were a total of 131 responses from the trade out of approx 2500. The apathy is staggering given the fact that these changes will have an effect for years to come.

The actual report compiled from the responses from both the trade and public can be found here, it makes for interesting reading.

That is what happens now isn't it? So you think it is right that drivers should be treated like slaves?

Grandad are being deliberately argumentative? Not all ph are slaves and well you know it, Tico never said they should be and I doubt very much that he means they should be either

Toots, you had better read his post again.

Yeah I can read what he wrote and clearly his punctuation isn't brilliant, but, then whose is. Let's try it like this, which is how I read it:-
"if little man can't afford car no more, big man move in and every man his slave" it seems to me that what he is saying is if the standards are too high average joe will end up relying on rentals from businesses.

That is what I thought that he meant but is that what he wants. He seems to sugest that high entry standards are the correct way to go thus forcing many people to be rental "slaves".
So is what he saying that entry standards still need to be high but not quite as high as those proposed?

I think standards should be high but not financially high. I do think he mentioned an entry for vehicles on first license of less than 3 years, which is what we have here for the taxis and it hasn't caused a mass of 'slaves'. Whilst our ph doesn't have to be under 3 years on first license it seems to be the norm so perhaps having it on taxis has a voluntary effect on ph.
