People follow the writings and teaching of others from a far more illiterate time of thousands of years ago!

To me it is a bit like "Paul Daniels/David Copperfield" going into a jungle today and finding some lost tribe, to then start pulling budgies and flags out of their ears ( couldn't do silver coins, as everyone is now skint")............the lost tribe would think that they were gods - but really it's illiteracy.

Then there is another train of thought by someone who once said.............."If you want to be a millionaire - create a religion = money!!

Then there is the Catholic Church (that WAS me as a youngster) - who rule by fear and threats of damnation. Rule one was that your children automatically became Catholic. In fact rule one was you cannot use contraception, so if you had as they did in Ireland many years ago, 10/15/20 children, then the numbers increased in the Church, and so did the collection plate = money

Then there is this for centuries, inextricable link between Politics and the Church - anything that is linked to politics.........really does have a niff about it = wars = money.

I still pray to my maker, whoever what ever that is - as for religion most are in because of the fear factor. Religion is something that has been created................there is money involved!!!!

Its a Sunday club, it satisfies a basic tribal instinct where you meet the right sorts of folk and can push forward the week exonerated from all previous atrocities with a few hail Mary's, with safety in numbers under the same banner to wreck political, mischief and war havoc in the respectable name of your religion-whatever it may be...as Dave used to say over a four fingered whiskey glass "May your God be with you"

A very funny guy.............
Quote:
He was a religious skeptic[1] (according to Allen himself, "what you might call a practising atheist", and often joked "I'm an atheist, thank God"
lol.
