Furious cabbie runs over innocent bystander in Halesowen melee

A TAXI driver mowed down a man in Halesowen after mistakenly believing he had attacked a fellow cabbie.

Tahat Shahid was overcome with rage after seeing a colleague being punched and kicked and drove his car at bystander Jonathan Sudor in Queensway.

Mr Sudor was struck by the vehicle but fortunately he escaped with only minor injuries including bruising and grazing, said Miss Rhiannon Jones prosecuting.

She told Wolverhampton Crown Court that 34-year-old Tahat Shahid arrived in his taxi and when he saw the melee he drove his vehicle at Mr Sudor.

Shahid of Nicholls Street, West Bromwich admitted driving dangerously and he was given a 10 month jail term suspended for two years.

He was further ordered to carry out 120 hours Community Punishment and pay Mr Sudor £125 compensation and also disqualified from driving for a year.

Miss Jones told the court that the man who had been involved in the attack on the taxi driver in Halesowen had already been sentenced by another court for his part in the incident.

She stressed that Mr Sudor of Darby End, Dudley had played no part at all in the violence and it was the other man who had been charged with assault.

Recorder Richard Bond told Shahid, a man of previous good character, it was clear he had used his vehicle as a "weapon" when he arrived on the scene.

I wonder if the victim worked for network rail

No seriously though two wrongs don't make a right I hope this driver is never let behind the wheel of a taxi/ph again

That's a shame because if it were me, I'd have him watching my back any day of the week. The guy made a mistake. :?

I don't quite understand all of this xenophobic racism because it's not going to change a thing. Personally, I think you'd be off better learning to live together, as I really don't see an alternative. :?
