in your areas what does your meters start at? in mine it starts at £2 and after 1/2 a mile it starts counting 10p, every 1/10 of a mile or there about's not to sure how long it takes to go up but whats it like in your area our meters have been changed 2 times this year 1st time they went up and 2nd time they came back down it was the 1st time they have been altered since 2007

£3.00 for the first mile then £1.70 per mile after that.

£2.80 start.

£2.20 a mile.

Even though I give discounts on runs over £3.00 how the hell are you surviving.
The way you have described it your 1st mile is £2.50 then £1.00 a mile after

£2.40 start first 950 yards (£3.40 between 10pm and 6am + all weekend)
20p per 180.5 yards (works out at £1.95 per mile) thereafter.
Waiting is £23.00 per hour.

quiet a different number of pricing throughout the country then and did you know that the condition of your drive wheels can effect effect how the meter counts mine is connected into the battery so must use pulses or something from the wheels and my meter is a wee pig it has flattened my battery 6 times and have had to radio through for an other driver to give me a jump start, it is a sherrif wayfare

if your car is "fly-by-wire" then it has a connection for a tacho or meter, or needs one, the old mechanical speedo drives had to be cut to install a transducer

i know the sierra's and cortina's that i used years ago where connected to the gearbox or the speedo i think, this meter i have the now is connected to the battery and has been a right pain i had it in my last car to and is was a taxi so the meter was wired into the taxi sign and was fine in that car but when i sold my taxi plate and bought the PH plate and the car has no roof light it has been quite faulty

put a relay in the 12v feed to the meter, controlled by the ignition, or a simple switch, or pull the inline fuse out but I doubt the drive is from the battery, it needs a pulse from a sender, usually a tee-piece cable off the speedo drive
