First time I've posted on the forum, but I've been watching some of the comments for some time now. Seems mad to me that London is the only big authority hanging onto the reduced turning circle, and the restricted vehicle choice is obviously unfair on our London cabbies. Time for action guys - so I've started a government e petition asking for regulation 181 to be removed from the London COF. It's pointless trying to hang on to this outdated rule - especially when the only current option open to guys in London is a £42,000 MB Vito!!! Madness. LTI is on it's deathbed (and even if it re-surfaces, who's going to buy!!) and London desperately needs the choice enjoyed throughout the UK. Have a look, sign if you agree, promote it on all social media if you want to support and let's hear what people think.........the web address for the petition is:
http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/43415
Thanks

Sorry, just trying to get the message out there asap - hope people can see past that and lend a hand to get this situation changed. Do you think it's a good idea? rbm

Again, sorry I posted this in three different areas, but just wanted to get the message across. Which is the best area to ask for support? If I know that then I'll ask for the other two to be removed.

Surely a matter for London alone?

It would be like having an opinion on gun control in America to sign a petition where the outcome, either for or against, would have no effect on me whatsoever?

Guys, this isn't just a London issue. At the moment, UK cabbies buy from two niche market product offerings - London COF and non London. If London falls into line with all the other authorities it makes one market that is doubles the size - that means the manufacturers look at the opportunity totally differently. More competition in a bigger market means better deals for all licensing authorities in the UK. Simple as that - it really isn't a London only issue.

Hi Blackpool
Really haven't got an angle, I'm currently unemployed. However, I used to work for a manufacturing company that's currently having a few very public issues......
I know quite a few cabbies from all over and the ones that have choice enjoy having it, the ones that don't have choice want it. If everyone had choice, then there'd be a more competitive market and everyone would benefit. For the sake of one minute's effort, wouldn't it be nice to actually make something happen, something that benefits all cabbies?

One minute.......let's start something.

Exactly how many e petitions have had an impact?

Gerry Facena from Allied Vehicles has both the finances and track record to get the turning circle scrapped through the courts, but despite the alledged court actions that was starting, I'm still awaiting any news.

The Nissan NV200 is arriving shortly . . . starting off with a petrol engine. :-k
