not so sure about putting a ginner in the pole position in the photo

What this photo shows is just how low the Scotsman has descended to under the ownership of Johnstone Press. They have a National journalistic Icon, widely respected throughout the world as a serious journal, and reduced it to little more than tabloid pap.

The Scotsman is little more than a high brow mouthpiece for the tory party. That's probably why it sells fewer copies than my local rag.

Well it's certainly getting that way.

I'm merely trying to educate delusional thinkers like you. You see Gusmac. I know what I'm talking about you, on the other hand, believed in fairy stories. :-|

Strangely, I'm thinking quite the reverse is true.

Ridicule from someone with nothing to offer except vague ramblings of a fairy tale that will never happen. Praise indeed. :D

On the contrary, I've told you how the system works and why it won't deliver what you want and what it will take to make the real change happen.

Foremost you are voting for a system, not Alec Salmond or Independence, a system geared to deliver a specific outcome. It's largely irrelevant who runs the show. In its simplest form, it's not much more than a box ticking exercise, where the outcome is assured.

For some strange reason, you seem unable to grasp the concept of how the system works in reality. You would rather believe in abstract terms like Independence, Freedom and Democracy. :?

You see Gusmac, because you’ve bought into independence on an emotional level, you’ve given little or no thought to what independence actually means. The system is a game, structured to pull the wool over your eyes, fooling you into believing you live in a democracy, and that your vote matters. When the truth is you don’t, and it doesn’t.

That’s why I can say with certainty, nothing will change with independence. It may even get a hell of a lot worse because the first objective of any government is control over its people.

Now you either believe the above, or you don’t but if that means you think Scottish politicians are different to their counterparts down south, and come independence they will have your interests at heart. You are delusional. :-|

Heard all this guff before Gary.
Maybe you need to change the terminology, so us simple-minded, tartan-clad teuchters can understand it

Then explain why doing nothing will change anything for the better.

I never said doing nothing will change anything. What I said was it would take an economic meltdown with an educated public for real change to happen. I also said that you didn't matter and without the checks and balances, your vote is simply an endorsement of how the system works in its present form.

Now let me ask you a question: Tell me how the system will change with independence and what it will deliver to the average man in the street?

It stands to reason you must know the answer, as you are the one voting for it.

Well at least you're paying attention. You didn't say that, I said doing nothing will achieve nothing. It was an invitation to prove me wrong.

That is your opinion, not mine. It certainly is not irrefutable fact, although you expect it to be accepted as such.
Apart from which you don't have an educated public and you're not going to any time soon.
In short, this just isn't going to happen, therefore it is irrelevant.

If you are correct (and I do stress the if), then nothing will change come independence.
Except expectations will have been raised, just to be dashed. That is going to produce an angry and resentful population, which could end up doing just what you say is needed anyway. You might even get your baying mob on the streets.
This is what you fail to take account of. You can only see one scenario for your real change, when there could be others.
Now I'd be the first to tell you that this is unlikely, but no more so than your blinkered view.

In reality, I think you worry that an independent Scotland would avoid economic meltdown and somehow cheat you of your perceived result.
Let's face it, if you truly want what you call real change and you honestly believe that economic meltdown is the key to getting it, the last thing you'd want is a successful independent Scotland.
You really need to keep Scotland shackled to the UK's corpse if you are to achieve your goal.
