I wouldn't want to Join a union, their leaders for the most part have seem to have become little more than working man sponsored Fat Cats with Big Pay, Big mouths, big Ideas and even Bigger Pension and perks. :?
I'm not a union man either. I prefer to paddle my own canoe.

The point I'm making is that it's the usual story with the trade.
They only want to join when they want something, usually when they're already up to their necks in shite.

Oh, and they grudge paying penny one for it.
Back to the point in hand it's nice that questions are being asked BUT is it not time for a concerted effort by trade organisations unions and organisations like the FSB if pressure came to bear on the government from several different organisations that would be far more productive surely ?

Edders decisions are taken around the table at meetings my only line is BE at those meetings BE organised, and there's no need to re-invent the wheel Unions for workers have been around for more than 150 years Cab Drivers are workers their lack of Organisation has allowed the above to occur. and it will continue until DRIVERS get organised.

SURELY IT AINT ROCKET SCIENCE :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

this morning is a typical example of the volunteer sector NOT providing service

got a phone call at 06.30 how much to Addenbrookes (50 minutes away with little traffic) and could I do one straight away quoted them T1 ( £60) and 10 mins phoned back 5 mins later and booked the chap was due for operation at 07.00 am and had booked a volunteer hospital car for 05.15 it had not turned up  although he told me that the driver had phoned him the night before. half way through the journey the chap received a call to tell him that the driver had had a problem with his car and had reached the house (about 07.10) he had already told them he couldn't wait and was in a taxi !! On return popped round to his sister to collect fare (she was paying for it to help him out) but he arrived at the hospital 40 minutes late for a major operation still a little stressed and agitated although I had done my best to calm him down on the journey

Very unprofessional service from the ambulance car service !!

Who in their right mind is going to get up for a 5.15am booking at 40p a mile?

Certainly not me.
