Still no news.

They'd better be quick, otherwise it'll be a Vito monopoly until the autumn.

MP Jim [edited by admin]. backs LTI to retain taxi-build in Coventry

Taxi at the factory in Coventry Jobs were lost at LTI after the firm's parent company Manganese Bronze called in administrators Continue reading the main story

An MP has put down an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons calling for production of the London black cab to remain in Coventry.

Labour MP for Coventry South, Jim [edited by admin]'s motion, notes that more than 130,000 black taxis had been made at the site over the past 60 years.

LTI in Coventry went into administration in October with 99 out of its 176 workers losing their jobs.

An announcement on the company's future is expected at the end of January.

Mr [edited by admin] said: "It'll demonstrate to the administrators that there's a lot of concern, certainly in the House of Commons, and outside the House but at the end of the day the company should remain in production in Coventry."

Price Waterhouse Cooper, the accountants currently running LTI, said earlier this month that it was hopeful of selling the company to a firm that will retain production in the city.

The Labour MP for Coventry North West, Geoffrey Robinson, has also signed the motion.
