I was speaking to a mate who has been a bus driver for over 25 years, regarding wheelchair users.
The driver is not allowed to load the passenger, all they are allowed to do is lower the ramp, the WC passenger must make there own way on, if the wheelchair position is occupied by a pushchair all the driver is allowed to do is ask the passenger to fold it, if they refuse he is not allowed to take the wheelchair passenger

just looking at equality act 2010

section 165 is requirements that a wav driver has to fulfill

section 166 says that the LA has to issue a exception cert on medical ground if not fit or would have reasonable difficulty is being able to do sec 165 (loading wheelchairs ect)

they said because has wheelchair conditions if have exemption im not fit to drive it ... might have just go down self risk assessment road and refuse anything over 8 stone

They can say, they can read, they can print, they can state, what they dam well like, but statute law takes precedence over their soppy old rules and regulations.

Write to your MP, who will in-turn write to the DfT who will in-turn bollock your council.

And if you can find it you would have expected your council to do likewise.

In all fairness in this case it would be money well spent.

I disagree.

If someone or some grouping/union/association do you a good turn, then you stay with them. And if part of that staying means you carry on paying your subs, then so be it.

Bow locks.

First bit is right, second bit about the pushchair is wrong. The wheelchair passenger takes precedence over the unfolded pushchair. Public Passenger Vehicle Act (can't remember the year).

To reply to the op, the LA could find themselves facing a discrimination case brought against them by the op if they're not careful. they are discriminating against him because of his illness AND preventing him from working; that in itself is a breach of his human rights.

And then when he once again required the resources supplied by his fellow workers I suspect they would be witheld rightfully of course Unions are aware of this PONCING mindset of the azzzoles of the world

I hope the guy achieves his aims and returns to employment soon, but the point is had he and more of his fellow workers been Unionised its unlikely any of this would have occurred and he would be driving and earning :D
