We run a small fleet taxis and want to track vehicles where they are and when meter is on any cheap suggestion

Simple answer, install Datamaster. All you need in one easy package. approx £3k initial outlay and small monthly amount thereafter. (easily recouped from radio fees). You won't regret it.

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^When they are at pick up the system tells you when if and when they put their meter on.

I have trackers installed in my cars. The company that supply them is Simplytrak. You can buy them outright or lease them.

We transport a lot of kids who don't always tell the truth. They often say the taxi didn't turn up or if they want to go for a fag before going to class, they say the taxi was late. It saves us a lot of hassle. Also when punters ring up and say that the taxi hasn't turned up, we can say what time it arrived and what time it left.

Dont some data sytems already track vehicles? they use the info to send the nearest driver a job
