If I was a betting man I would suggest he doomed himself by his own words when first contacted by the LOs.

What words were they then? According to the report he didn't give any explanation.

I've no doubt he was doing exactly what he was accused of, but there's so many reasonable explanations available, im surprised he was 'convicted' :?

Beyond reasonable doubt and all that . . .

Still, it's a lesson to us all, say nothing incriminating to LAOs if approached in the street, and take proper legal advice if you're called up, or summonsed to court.

I don't think it comes under criminal cases so it would be a civil matter, guilty until proven innocent or as CC puts balance of probability.

Perhaps he was doomed by not offering a proper reason.

Unlike some on here I take a big dislike to cherry pickers. But if some are happy for certain drivers to take the cream and leave the s*** for them, then so be it.

But I ain't one of them.

talk about conflicting answers. On the rules of engagement thread you are advising drivers to listen and say nothing and on this thread you are saying he was doomed for saying nothing. Confusing or what?

It's better to say nothing than something stupid, but better to say something sensible than nothing.

I think you'll see, if you read what Sussex wrote, that he used the word 'perhaps' which makes a world of difference to the whole context of the statement  Apart from that at first the guy wouldn't say anything and then when he did it was something stupid :?

Yes, the bench put themselves in the position of the LA.
