London cab app spat! Kabbee slams Hailo's prices as "insult to customers"

London’s leading taxi smartphone apps are in a dispute over pricing of minicabs as Kabbee have launched a savage attack on Hailo’s recent pricing changes as an “insult to their customers”.

This follows Hailo’s introduction of minimum fare pricing for cab journeys taken using its service, with passengers having to pay atleast £10 at peak times on Friday and Saturday nights and needing to do so on card accounts rather than with cash.

Kabbee CEO and founder Justin Peters said: “I find it hard to understand how better technology isn’t being used to drive efficiencies that can give Londoners a better deal. Especially given the economic climate out there. How can Hailo be more expensive than a black cab? It’s an insult to their customers that the Hailo drivers want more money just to pick them up. The fact that they won’t even take their cash just makes no sense at all.”

This comes as Kabbee have launched reserach suggesting that black cab journeys around London are 36% more expensive than in a minicab, rising to a staggering 64% when taking traffic into account.

Peters added: “In recent years, Londoners have been hammered by public transport fare rises - even as minicab companies have fought to keep their prices competitive. As a result, commuters can now earn major savings by taking minicabs over black cabs and even - in some cases - the tube.”

A Hailo spokesperson avoided responding to Peters’ attack on its pricing but told LondonlovesBusiness.com:

“We are constantly working to make the Hailo service work better for our customers and drivers with new initiatives such as the launch this week of fixed prices to the airports.

“In central London, the average time from Hailo tap to taxi is under two minutes and the quality of the service has led to Hailo becoming the world’s highest rated taxi app with over 7,000 five-star reviews.

“With a network of almost 11,000 London drivers, over 250,000 registered London users, and over 1.5 million jobs under our belt we are keen to build on the success we have had so far and ensure we continue to give drivers and passengers a service they love.”

I'm thinking about writing something on this thing - the title will go along the lines of "the people that ate themselves to death".

Minicabs probably are cheaper than real taxis.

But they can start up with a £1200 Vauxhall Astra.

A piece of paper from Africa telling us all they're great characters, apart from the odd genocide or rape.

A sat nav.

Quality.

SlavesRus.com

Cheap trashy Britain grows and grows.

When I was on hailo the majority of fares went over the £10 mark. Can't see it making much difference. Demand is high. Look at Addison lees minimum fare at ANYTIME , what is it now? £12 ?

Get taxi is £15 minimum at weekends, although I think they make up the rest of the fair as an insentive for drivers to accept the jobs, the punter pays the meter.
