DURHAM COUNTY COUNCIL LOCAL GOVERNMENT

(MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT 1976 PROPOSED FEES FOR HACKNEY CARRIAGE AND PRIVATE HIRE LICENCES 2013/2014

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in accordance with Section 70 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, Durham County Council propose to charge the fees set out in the schedule below for the grant of licences of Hackney Carriages, Private Hire Vehicles and Private Hire Vehicle Operators.

A copy of this notice shall for the period of twenty eight days from the date of publication of this Notice be deposited at Durham County Council County Hall Co. Durham and be open for public inspection between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on weekdays.

Any objections to the fees set out in the schedule below may be made in writing to the Head of Environment Health and Consumer Protection at the address mentioned below, within twenty eight days from the date of publication of this Notice.

SCHEDULE

For the Grant/Renewal of an annual vehicle licence in respect of a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire Vehicle £311.20

For the Grant/Renewal of an annual vehicle licence in respect of a Special Vehicle £284.70

For the Grant/Renewal of an annual Private Hire Vehicle Operators Licence £112.50

Please explain that one to me because apart from our council also including the drivers badge in the notice, our notice is the same.

They are right, I'm yet again wrong.

In your case they don't need to advertise drivers, as it is assumed only the processing costs are recovered, so there is no need to explain any increase.

That's OTT considering ours is only £182, and it includes the Op licence

Let me get this right, the council don't need to advertise the increase in drivers badge costs? If that is right, how are we supposed to object to the increase?

You can still object, it's just there is no provision in any taxi/PH act for formal objections.

You are entitled to ask why the increase is happening, and a full justification. If those justifications aren't forthcoming, or inadequate, then it's to the District Auditor.
