It's been a tough couple of weeks for our central cousins and just feel everyone of them could do with some reassurance we still care.

So we've had hug a hoodie

Now it's time to hug a central cabbie

Their leadership has let them down and they feel vunerable

All that's need is a smile, arms open and a nod that says come on we understand

This simple first stage will help repair our trade

Unfortunately it's true apparently. Question was asked at CC EGM about the rank at ERI and part of winning the tender was sole use of the rank there

It's a public rank so it isn't true. Anyone from central trying to tell anyone they can't rank there will be disciplined.

If any central driver is in any doubt about it, or feels like they want to peddle pish like that to put others off, they should speak to their office who will confirm it.

I remember when there was a rank at the western which was on private land. There was an issue with too many cars hanging off the back so NHS decided to erect a plastic sign stating that only comcabs were allowed to rank there. This was well within their right because it wasn't a council designated rank. What happened? Central drivers took exception to this and physically removed the sign!

It's actually quite amusing at the ERI just now. Central drivers can't seem to get it into their heads that comcabs still have some contracts down there. NHS east and midlothian is a comcab contract and believe it or not, some staff phone comcabs privately because they are familiar with the drivers and like the service.
It's beyond comprehension that they don't "have it all" and there is plenty moaning and evil eyes going on towards cabs that they probably think shouldn't even be sharing the same roads as them.

It's risky though. It's easy to be mouthy in a cab but one of them in particular might find out that the guy he is giving it out to is closer to giving him his comeuppance than he thinks. Hypothetical situation of course. :)

Really don't want this turning into them and us. We're all cabbies ffs!

Doubt lessons will be learned from this episode but if they are they should be...

There can be united interest from the 3 black cab companies

But there's nothing wrong with being independent rivals! It's quite healthy and keeps us all improving standards

But the big three must have respectful dialogue( means talking basically. I know alot of you sun readers on the rank don't get past page 3!!)

It's crazy we're cutting each others throats to get these contracts. Sit down and discuss it so the discounts are sustainable!!

Some will say aye but private hire will step in? The FEAR of the private hire has always frustrated me.

Always thought each company should have an arm of private hire to control them in some way and profits sunk back into the big three's coffers.

They sprung up because we became lazy. Cannae be arsed going to pick up round the corner or at the pub.

All you hear is aye ECPH will be handing out their cards to all those airport customers and getting all the work!!
Be honest here do we all do that?? I know I don't. So the one thing we fear we don't do ourselves but can? Ffs we all need a kick up the arse!! Get handing out those freaking cards for each of your black cab company and promote ourselves!!

But the deck is in our favour! In the majority we have well trained professionals of the trade

We have the use of the greenways! (Would defeat the purpose of them if they let ph in)

So cheer up and be happy to that next customer!!

Life ain't that bad it's almost the festival 8) 8) 8) 8)

Can't disagree with any of the above. It's a shame.

Enter stage left. Hannibal Lecter.

I couldn't contain myself a moment longer.I have felt great amusement and sadness whilst perusing the outpourings on the Forum. I wonder how many of the words on here have been spoken in a one on one or a group conversation? Many of you may be wondering what a conversation is! For many it will be through Tweets or FB, in my day we actually found that we could speak to each other, yes your right, face to face. No need to use a telephone or a computer, all you needed was your voice.

It appears to me that the root of many of ones concerns and problems posted here could quite easily have been rectified by means of talking.

There is a lot of wasted energy here on second guessing and pointing the finger, on some occasions blatantly in the wrong direction. It's all here, you've just got to know when to read between the lines. Look closer, closer. Learn to see what is staring you in the face and not what your mind digests, we all at times digest what we don't want to.

The main bone of contention here is City Cabs being awarded the Airport Tender, I'll use awarded and not won. I don't believe companies win tenders or contracts, I prefer to think they have been awarded the tender for the services they state they will deliver, old fashioned possibly but a far more realistic view I feel. The second bone of contention is that City Cabs have been awarded the tender because they were prepared to dance with the Devil, in other words work with a private hire company, an accusation, I use accusation because as aforementioned if you care to read between the lines there are actual facts to counteract this accusation. One of Hannibal's famous quotes comes to mind "seek and ye will find".

I would like to share with you my observations based on what I have seen, heard, read and most importantly discussed, yes, what I have spoken about in a one to one or group conversation. We all have gods gift to talk yet the majority choose not to. The next time you pick up your mobile to send a text or an email, consider calling the person and actually having a conversation, that way you will be able to understand how that person actually feels or what their views are by listening to their tone. We all now send a text and when we receive the reply we spend the next few minutes trying to decipher what that person is actually saying.

So here are my observations.

1. Was it still a possibility to put a joint tender/venture in between Central and City Taxis? (I put Central first as that is alphabetical order, no preferences, no reading between the lines this time). The answer is yes.

2. Was it Central Taxis decision to pull out of a joint Tender and submit a sole Tender for themselves? The answer is yes.

3. Did City Cabs put a joint tender in with ECPH? The answer is no.

There are pages and pages of views and observations, who did this and who's to blame for this or why did we not do this. The above three questions in my observations answer the whole debate.

The decision by Central to tender alone was made by their committee for reasons known to them. I would like to think they had there members best interests at heart.

I may be old fashioned but I'm a great believer in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" I believe that both parties were working well together and if they had continued, this sorry predicament would have most certainly been avoided. Reality now however is that City Cabs have been awarded the Tender to Centrals detriment. Another saying that comes to mind and one I'm not so fond of is "you've made your bed now lie in it". In other words what's done is done, you now have to work with the tools you have.

I can't end without mentioning "Fat Boab". As my heading to my table of observations is titled "Who is Travis Bickle?".

Here is a man, and i'm referring to Fat Boab, who has spent some considerable time to let us access his observations. I find some of them intriguing and others a waste of time and energy. Here is a man that has been waiting patiently to snare who ever it is that has betrayed him, similar to that of "Multiple Miggs".

I personally have no desire to know the identity of Travis Bickle, but as an older and of a somewhat wiser generation, I think the answer may well be found if only one would take time to read between the lines, "seek and ye will find".

I do also ponder the thought that the majority may not be waiting to find the identity of "Travis Bickle" but the identity of "Fat Boab"

I have to go now "I'm having an old friend for dinner!!!"

The idiosyncrasies of the comments is of no surprise. Boring it may be to you, that's because you do not like to deal in facts but rather prefer to add fictitious elements to the debate.

I opened the link to your post "Free Scotland" spokesman, and before I bored myself reading beyond the first paragraph, the answer is NO.

Now I would suggest the three of you return to your Buck Fast and Mayfair Superkings.

Mind you don't drop the soap......again!

If I struggle to sleep I'm going to read your post!

Hannibal, I have taken the time to read your diatribe and to then sit and reflect in the hope that I observe something worthy.

My observations lead may to say "yer a knobber."
