No but to protect drivers they would.

Yes I work for the company but I'm trying to gauge what taxi drivers would prefer and personal experiences people have had without cctv/lone worker protection. As shown on the first reply to topic, numerous taxi drivers are physically attacked or abused.

Do you agree or disagree with audio/video recording for protection.

Agree 100%.

And let's not forget the protection is for both driver and punter.

Does anyone have any examples of when recording would have been beneficial?

One has to bear in mind that most examples don't make the press, and even more examples don't actually happen due to the deterrent effect.

But the question I ask is the reverse of what you asked, has anyone any examples when audio recordings have been detrimental?

My other question therefore is regarding who should pay for the recording equipment taxi drivers are being told they must have?

Many CCTVs have an on/off audio option, in other words no extra cost.

Surely councils and taxi companies should look into these more? Thoughts anyone?

I would imagine most taxi/PH drivers would not want a direct link to the police station.

There is nothing wrong with having cctv in a cab or PH but they should only record video without sound,

Why?

My £40 something quid unit that I bought on eBay is still going strong 4 years down the line.

Sound, great pics, all in all a bargain.
