Interesting word "profit", so when you have paid for your insurance , your car -cab payment, radio put money away for repairs and licencing and car tax ,and your .tax and nat-ins ,what' left is your's. yes....
my drivers dont want that,it would cost them too much....mrT....

So where does your profit come from Mr T?

Answer: out of your drivers' pockets.

But I know that a lot of drivers prefer not to own, the accepted wisdom for a lot of them is that they can sign on and/or not pay tax if they don't run their own vehicle.

Is that what you mean?

A night collar in Knowsley on a TX1 can be had for 150.00. In Liverpool they can be had for 200.00. Maybe Mr. T can advise us what the going rate is in Sefton?

For Mr T to make a decent profit or for that matter a decent, living he needs to have his cabs double tracked. I suppose that's why he's chit scared of delimitation, he needs someone else to produce his income.

Lets for arguments sake say Mr T has four cabs and he charges 150 for a night track and 125 for days. That's hardly going to give him a decent living when running costs are taken into account.

275.00 gross per TX1 per week equals 14,300 per annum is hardly a viable business model.

Lets give him some credit and say he has 60% no claims bonus with third party insurance at say 2 grand a year on each cab.

Lets say his repair bills and tyres are 4 grand a year for each cab. Test and road tax another 350.00

Then take into account the income from signage advertising, which will vary with the type of advertising. Say 700 a year.

His total income per cab would be approximately 15,000.
Outgoing per cab would be in the region of 6,500

So that's a net gain of 8,500 less vehicle depreciation depending on age?

Less any outstanding hire purchase?

So all in all he with four cabs he is probably just about making as much as the average night driver who puts in a full week.

The point I'm interested in as that on Merseyside nearly everyone pays a flat rate collar, the Motley crew from Taxi Talk, including Mr T all know this. Yet they were all part of a conspiracy that allowed a mischief maker by the name of Waynne Cassey to try and discredit my database reference that the flat rate collar is the most widely used method of tracking out a Cab.

Interesting isn't it.

I suspect Mr T has more than four cabs - after all, there's nearly 300 in Sefton, so a dozen or so wouldn't be a big deal.

I doubt if he'll tell us though, and I'm not that interested to try to find out :-|

Hmm...so I criticise the black economy in the trade and you then say that means I'm involved in it?

Devestating logic there Mr T #-o

I'm not sure what relevance that has to the issue in hand, but I'll tell you what, I'll answer your question if you tell me how many cabs you have

By the way, where do terms like 'track' and 'collar' come from?

Is 'collar' derived from the fact that the plate holders have the drivers on a leash, or something like that

Or is it something to do with Linda and her German Shepherd? :D

As far as I understand Collar is the common term used on Mersyside for the rent a driver pays an owner for a Night collar or a Day collar.

East of Warrington they use the word Track for a day or night track and also a through Track.

I can't expand on why the word collar is used on Merseyside only to suggest that the scouse Colloquialism is a Phenomenon all their own.
