I haven't been following all this too closely but, if even half of what I'm reading here is true, Central are going to get reamed in court.

Any chance that's the plan? Get crucified, go bust and blame it all on the opposition?

Subject: Edinburgh Airport Taxi tender

Dear colleagues

I write to you in response to an email you were sent from Tony Kenmuir of Central Radio Taxis Ltd dated 21st February 2013. Mr Kenmuir raised various issues and made several statements surrounding the recent tendering of taxi provision at Edinburgh Airport.

I wasn’t copied into the email nor was this issue raised at the meeting so I wish to use this opportunity to provide some clarity and fact.

I have to say that my colleagues and I find the nature and tone of the email sent out and the false image it projects very disappointing.

I have no wish to dwell on that but what I do want to is help the group understand our process and decision.
Put simply, this is about improving the service to our passengers. Edinburgh Airport’s passengers can now look forward to new and improved level of service with the announcement of this joint venture between City Cabs (Edinburgh) and Edinburgh City Private Hire. To be clear on this – it is a 50/50 split between black cabs and private hire cars, based on a split rank. It will see passengers have access to a diverse range of vehicles and not need to wait for more than 5 minutes for a cab at any time of the day. There will be a new taxi area with new clear signage and passenger assistance – all of which responds to what our passengers have asked for.

How did we get here? Well, a review of the Airport Surface Access Strategy (ASAS) was carried out during 2012, part of which reflected on future taxi operations. Subsequently, we set out on a tender process for taxi operations that put our passengers at the core of our plans and delivered what they told us.

The process we used to evaluate responses has given consideration to the total offering of each submission and also the impact to the whole taxi community. The tender evaluation was run internally by an independent staff review board and the process has been verified by an independent external body. The board also consulted with a wider external stakeholder audience including Taxi licencing officials, L & B Police and the City of Edinburgh Council to help them to determine their outcome. The new 5 year, SLA driven agreements will see the operations being established on the outer forecourt with common operating protocols.

We think it will deliver on 5 main areas:

• Improved customer choice – Our passenger surveys and ASAS review informed us that our customers wanted a diverse range of vehicles. i.e. Some sought the iconic black cab at the capital airport for a trip into town whilst others wanted a saloon or estate for the trip to St Andrews. The airport also had an aspiration to seek more environmentally friendly product and fleet options over contract.

• Contracts – Establish new commercial agreements to ensure that this mode of transport was contributing equally to the provision of airport infrastructure.

• Service – New agreements are customer service focused ensuring commitments to training, customer waiting times (wait max 5 mins), quality of vehicle and staffing were delivered.

• Way finding – Currently we have two ranks located in different areas, which often leads to passenger confusion. Consolidation into one area provides the opportunity to improve way finding signage throughout the terminal and forecourts and improve the passengers’ experience.

• Information – Improved levels of management information relating to this mode ensuring the opportunity for continuous improvement throughout the contract term.

We believe it will provide a step change service for passengers arriving at Scotland’s capital city. We’re sorry that as in any tender process there will be disappointed parties. However we will make no excuses for putting our passengers first and for demanding the best service for them. This innovative partnership will do just that – improving customer service, offering choice and improving our processes.

I’d be happy to discuss any concerns any of the committee may have on our decision, or equally to provide further information should it be required.

Regards

David

OK. So the Airport management have a duty of care to its passengers. Would Wilson be prepared to tell us what analysis he undertook to establish delivery of that duty of care.

Like identifying a system which allowed an ECPH driver to driver for 21 and a half hours, with airport customers?

Aren't we just waiting for the first death? Either an airport customer or another innocent victim wiped out?

Remember the private hire culture is to rip off the drivers, charge them ever more, and forcing them to bend rules to work longer to make their buck.

It will be impossible to police this.

Anyway, the council has been made aware of this incident. On the face of it they took no action. I'm just waiting for an incicdent to happen and the correspondence will be made available to any victims of any future incident.

And consider. You've got two guys waiting at the airport for a job. One is company hired at £7 an hour. Who's gonna get first bite at the job?

The same two guys. A country job comes in, another to the Norton House hotel. Who's gonna get the country job? The self employed guy? Or the hired man, with the proceeds going straight to the company? Wanna bet the hired guy will not even be told what the price for the job is? And why should he?

Paying an hourly rate for PH drivers simply creates a new level of serfs.

Nice one, or what?

So, Tony? How is all this improving "customer service"? I would suggest you haven't a scooby what customer service is. All airport management see are the pound signs. because the airport management have proven time and again that their regard for customers is only as a cash cow, whose pockets they can dip to fill their own coffers.

Which other business charges to allow their customers to be dropped off at them.

=D> for your greed. But birds do come home to roost, don't they?

And Tony (lawsuits what are they?) Kenmuir gets voted back on after taking his company to the edge! I have seen and heard it all today; all our esteemed leaders are back on along with Joe Conway. Joe what have you let yourself in for? At least with your accountancy background in insolvency’s you will be able to explain all the big words and ramifications to Tony and Co. Wait until you’re sat down and brought up to speed with events tomorrow, you’ll be wishing you hadn’t.

Feck me!

City Cabs where do we get an application form?

Hello Everyone,
The election voting results were as follows: Tony Kenmuir P60 - 303,
Joe Conway P236 - 251, Stuart Macintyre P165 - 247, Kevin Wood P367 -
247, Murray Fleming P76 - 222, Eric Barry P95 - 129, Mike McGachie
P288 - 99, Drew Walker P312 - 87.
The new committee will be formed by the standing members with the
addition of Joe Conway. We would like to congratulate and welcome Joe
and thank the other candidates for demonstrating the willingness
to represent their colleagues and take on what can be demanding
responsiblities. All received substantial support from the members
and achieved highly respectable results.
Stuart is handing over the discipline role to Joe. Other than that we
propose no changes. Kevin remains Chairman, Tony remains
Vice-Chairman, Murray remains Company Secretary.
None of the proposals passed and so there are no changes to the
articles or rules.
Thank you to all who voted and in particular to those members who were
able to attend and contribute to the meeting.
best regards Tony on behalf of the Committee.

Joe I told you, Discipline Convener! The only talented person on the committee and what he gets the dirty work. Must be a first, a Chartered Accountant handing out fines.

Forget the discipline minutes Joe, get stuck into the B Agenda minutes, the stuff Tony (top vote catcher) Murray and Kevin can't comment on.

By the way Joe, one of the first questions you should be asking the amigos is, how many lawyers company represent Central?

Well Joe what kind of a week have you had? Have the bold boys brought you up to speed on all the goings on? With your accountancy background how does the staggering £700k a year discount look likely to be funded? A bit of a disaster for you to inherit here! I bet you wee Tony has an answer though, it's just he's waiting for a voice in his head to tell him.

That's nothing compared to the ongoing court actions! Oh silly me what am I thinking, there's no action or summons according to the Tony(spin machine)Kenmuir and Co. Even last Sunday at the meeting when you were elected Joe, the bold boys flatly denied any action or summons had been received, this complete denial in front of the membership you heard for yourself. Even yesterday and today on the City Centre West rank the wee businessman of the year Tony was still denying it to members, saying it's all hearsay, gossip and scaremongering by the bad boys from the West. Oh Tony, Tony, Tony, what a silly boy you are.

Coming to a taxi forum soon!

I take it you're insulted because I called you a "knobber" and not because I referred to you as a "sheep"? So you'll be happy being a sheep and living in ignorance of what your esteemed committee have and continue to do in defence of their failed airport tender? Are you aware that Central and wee Tony (it'll all just go away) Kenmuir have less than 72 hours to either front up or pay up, the clock is ticking for the bold boys.

I am sorry if I upset you with the term "knobber" is bell end more appropriate?

Take up a hobby, Crocket or wicker basket weaving or the like, help relieve all that built up stress and anger. 8)

Aye you got me Sochaux, that's where i'm getting this all wrong, not getting out enough. I think I should take up your idea of "Crocket" it sounds much more fun than Croquet! In fact I think I could start up a new Crocket Club, that bit of wasteland you and your mates use as a feeder rank will soon be available, April the 17th I believe.

Anyway, we have went with 'knobber' and 'bell end' do we agree that 'helmet' is more appropriate to you?

So for the avoidance of doubt, yer a helmet!
