I know many of the readers on here won't like us going on about the forum that's spreading false information about TDO, but what I can never undestand is the double standards of some of these people.

When we started TDO, anyone could post or read without registering. But given an increasing volume of abusive posts, the difficulty of following the threads with so many 'guest posts' (usually Yorkie), and due to requests from some regular contributors, we decided to make posting for registered members only, but everyone could still read the posts, and no one registering had to use their real name.

Now this has been the only change of this kind for a year and a half, but of course some people used this as 'evidence' that we were run by a solicitor from Manchester #-o , we were using this site to sell legal services :-k and also helping North Korea to develop nuclear weapons. :-s

For example, Gateshead Angel said:

I know all about what they wanted from their site when they started it, an open list without the need for membership where a persons opinion was more important that who or where the person was. Then all of a sudden their agenda changed, the requirement for information became essential, which contradicted their own ideals when the site was formed

But the funny thing is, that the site that he and Nigel previously ran made several changes like that within a few weeks, at one point two or three such changes in as many days, as I recall. Of course, that was OK, because it was them and not us.

But it's interesting to note that Nigel started one forum recently and dumped it within a couple of weeks for his new incarnation. Within a week or two they had done the same thing that we had taken over a year to do but then got accused of all sorts as a consequence (ie make it member-only posting). Now one of the moderators has proposed a members-only section.

But of course all that's OK, because it's them and not us. But given their double standards in relation to resticted taxi numbers, their double standards in relation to everything else is unsurprising, a la Mr Cummins in Taxi Talk.

While all this is mildly irritating, what matters most now is that they're on there and not on here, and long may it stay that way [-o<

By the way, for Yorkie's benefit, the bit about North Korea was a joke

By the way, unlike them I don't think that the fact that they've twisted and turned in this way means that the site is run by a solicitor from Manchester.

Try a burger man from Manchester instead. :D And a fast-tan man from Gateshead

We prefer real taxi drivers on TDO [-( \:D/

Funny enough, we have several ex burger men driving cabs in Manchester. I don't know if they have moved up in the world or taken a step backward?

the only think keeping that forum going is the world news that the captain put up that no one reads. or repeated references to here.
So if we give them all the credence they deserve NONE then they will wither and die.
Or yorkie will get bored and start upsetting all of them as well. pillock.

perhaps this thread and all the others that are to do with the petty bickerings of certain ex-members and the 'other' site, should be moved to the TDO administration area. so those of us who could no give a hoot (including new members) can avoid reading dribble that we are not interested in.

Well it's arguable either way, but my point alludes more to the fact that they keep on bleating on about 'real' taxi drivers when they themselves are in some cases anything but, or are fleet owners who may not even drive a cab.

I mean Mr Marchant's latest offering in CTN was a peach - he goes on about us not being taxi drivers, and blabbers on about pencil chewers and office workers, yet earlier in the paper we are told that an ex-bus driver has taken over the T&G cab section from another ex-bus driver, and like his predecessor no doubt the new one will be an office-bound pencil chewer ](*,)

Point taken steveo.

However, I just don't like the misrepresentations, double standards, falsehoods and assorted bull in relation to TDO that others are making a career out of elsewhere, and sadly we have to make some attempt to counter it, lest anyone should actually take these things seriously.

However, from now on we will try to ignore these things, but anything of this kind will in future stay in the Admin section :-#

But while these people keep registering under false IDs and the like then we will continue to take action =;
