There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Every time a driver pulls off the rank to take on a cabapp job it has cost him * 50p. £1 if its any sort of distance job.

It's a fair cop Guv. Pun intended!

*after using all his free credits, minimum 5 plus any provided for test purposes.
Ye say "every time a driver pulls off rank"!!! That has only been the case for me a couple o times and I have traveled to service the job to gain the customers confidence in the app and to have them use the app again in future. I have realised, and know, this works in all kinds of service delivery.

Pulling off rank is one thing, most of the jobs I have had from the app are when I have been moving in the area of the hail (drop off or driving passed).
That, to me, means no return to city centre empty as the fare gained is usualy going inward. Bloody heck it's fifty pence spent, I then add on my quid booking fee for pick up and i'm in 50p up heaven with less dead millage and less fuel spent getting back in to wait in a stagnent rank.

I have said this before, some companies with apps (we have the market cornered in oor toon with oor company app so ye can dash yer hopes kind o p*sh folk) charge the driver a radio fee and then premote the app on the phone system only to charge the driver again over and above their radio fees......

Wake up quick boys and girls, it's only another string te yer bow.
Fifty P is not a radio fee! Take the job or leave it as you are your own boss on this app.

I will add that a driver on here has said that he pays £20 a month for a CREDIT CARD MACHINE. WHY!!!!!!! I am still laughing at the stupid reply given, is the bloke in business or what?. Everyone knows that you have to make £20 to cover that loss.... ie, giving £20 of free lifts to cover the cost. The bloke could not even see this... Doh!!!!!!

Cab:app charges the driver nothing for DebCrd or CrdCrd jobs, even for off the street/rank jobs, drivers can use the machine. All paid into yer bank within two t three days. Fare charged is the fare you get.

NO!!!! I am not the cab:app owner, sales man or rep. I am just a driver that can see the advantage of their system.
How can I sell you something that is free (( OKAY 50p a JOB. Ten shillings for those with auld hats on, ))

What!. I only got five.
I take it you are now tuned in to what I is believe could be a good earner for running the app in the background of a silent phone.

Edinburgh's App market is sewn up and with the back up of 1000 drivers willing to service the bookings other App companies need not apply

Cab:app disclaimers?

Working in nearly 100 towns and cities in UK and Ireland - But not Edinburgh its sown up!

Use cab:app throughout Uk and Ireland to get a local Taxi! -
but not Edinburgh its sown up so you will need to get on yer mobile and search for another download, register your details, hope its the right one and does everything your used to getting at home and then hail/book your taxi.

Cab:app taxi hailing throughout UK and Ireland-
but in Edinburgh 1000 drivers use the free credit card facility on their phones but won't take cabapp jobs!
Except at the airport where they just love picking up a cabapp booking. ( long story)

Visiting somewhere new, booked online, done your research, googled your destination, experienced traveller , no flies on you sir! Be warned though expecting to use cab:app for your taxi coming off the plane or train like everywhere else won't work in Edinburgh, it was sown up!

Exactly! Nae some "alleged" local private hire firm with motorised skip, Nae "alleged" local mini cabs in a Lada. Only a true, proven tested TAXI with proven insured driver will be sent to a customer.

Taxi drivers need only apply.

I bangs my heed aff the wa n gees it a scratch, I then shaks it to the Edinbrugh mob who have stitched them sels up..... Or have it "all sown up" in their own words.....

Hill fire Signal,,,, Nae Chunce...! Morse Code,,, nae chunce....! 2p Phone Box,,,, Nae chunce...! Telex Machine,,,, Nae chunce....! Mobile Phone,,,, Nae chunce...! Mons Meg signal bang, or one oclock gun, Perhaps........... These are lang ago gone.

Sown up or stiched up,,, call it what ye like. Only a very few of you lot in "Embrugh" know how it feels to be free. To the majority of you silly folk, deluded as you are, pay yer illegal rental fees to those who actualy are licenced to have the plate n dictate to you. Don't try n tell us who actualy own our own plates and cars that you own "your" area.

Your OWNER has you sown all up and very well stiched. there is a very big differance between a taxi driver and a driver of a taxi.

Dial a Cab, Radio Taxis, and Com Cab laughed at Hailo when they first appeared in London a couple of years ago.

Hailo now dominate the market.

They have over 9000 drivers registered which is more than the 3 main circuits have put together, now they (and Get taxi) have account work too, all takenn from the old circuits and the likes of Addison Lee Minicabs.

For those that think Edinburgh, or any other city have their way of working 'sewn up' . . . Hailo and its multi million pound backers change that very quickly.

They quite simply get the public to use their app, and the drivers follow.

I don't think theres a taxi company / co-operative in the country that has access to 9 million quid for advertising on the telly, radio and popular local rags.

They do, and now Richard Bransons onboard with his name as a backer.

Its a side to the industry thats taking off globaly, and i don't think anywhere is immune.

We don't control our market, paying punters do.

Wow, just caught on to this, its so yesterday's thread

Jasbar you must have read the entire thread to pull that one, i cant remember what i was responding too but LETS SAY stood out hyPATHETICally speaking,as you are of course !

Competition is good  Bring it on :D The limited market that is Edinburgh doesnt have much to offer the big halioapp but who am i to stop them trying, they will cut each other up first before they try and take us on, we are established and have all the back up needed to protect our market share.

I feel sorry really for the CABhAPPy and Fannyadams mob ((i presume you are app pushers)they arnt even in the game.

AliT you really should bring more to the table m8, you can only really be judged by the words you TrYPE  Cheap shots on whatever your post/contribution was about

C&F Your Tactics though, Tactics !!! GO on go all in, attack  says i all really

True enough GBC, different strategies of cabapp and Hailo and no doubt others it will be interesting to see who prevails.

Do you please the punters and hope drivers will take it on the chin for the work or do you build your business around drivers needs and hope the punters main concern is availability. Chicken or egg ?
Do you concentrate in the worlds major cities and leave the gaps or do you link the towns and take it to the cities?

Right that's the adult chat over ........

Hey Fanny Adams we got a whopper here two hooks in the same Baggie. =D>

Still thinks cabapp and Hailo etc are in competition. :D :D You are on a two dimensional plane Reggie boy with two dimensional vision. Can't see over the horizon,? Then look up look down, see there is more to the world around you.
Taxi radio circuits have limited horizons (ref: this entire forum). PH have tools to go further, reach further. On that level plane they win and we all know it.
The taxi trade have to add a new dimension it there you just have to look.

Oh getting all grown up there for a minute. Back to the Baggie on the hook.
Read the previous post my friend Hailo are concentrating on big cities like London, Chicago, Toronto and Dublin (apparently jumping ship or pushed?)

Edinburgh? are Hailo doing anything or is just a sown up wee village to them? I don't know.

Ello, I'm now a driver sittin in a dead rank for half an hour waiting to become point car....
I wish I didn't have to travel for 20 mins or miles back to town after my last hire to get to this place in the queue!

I am now point car and the next customer asked me if I took cards, I said no,(no way am I paying £20 a month for a machine) job now passed back to a driver who pays for card machine and leaves me sittin for another 10 mins or so....

I pay an office a fee, and on top of that they charge me to get their customers using their app.

Get the odd job coming back in, get the card job..... No faffin about when the office ain't busy. simples, have cab:app going in the background.

As I said, I'm no sales man or stuff, just someone who has taken advantage of what they offer for 50p a job n the free card machine thrown in...

Nope, no pusher here, I am just user who is now more in the game than you think. Im now beating most, if not all, card company charges for the customers benefit.
I now do not have to pass back jobs cos of lack of card machine and I don't even lose cash to have one. I am now a better player of the game than you I bet.

I am an independant driver who pays no rental of car or radio, I pay no card machine company. All the money I make is Mine all Mine, Muwahuhuh!.

Now, pray tell me your part in your so called "The Game". Do you rent, hire a cab, (illegaly hire someones plate or vehicle with one) pay a company radio dues, pay for a card machine etc! let me know if you are playing "The Game" for you or on behalf of someone else!

I look forward to yer responce PR

Sorry grandad, I should have said the money I make after the obvious tax grab and running costs is all mine, I am sure you realise this.

ie; No £25+ with a  going to pay for a machine like you do.

You are giving away the equivalent of £25+ of free lifts just to have the machine.

No we aren't.
I was poor at maths in school, but this just not add up, please explain further #-o #-o #-o !

Responding to someone who put Fanny&adams together is quite weird, you could one or the other

Most know me on here, they know how I have played and play the game, I've played all the games a cabbie could play, let's say, your game, I got bored

You keep on promoting the wonder app, I'm thinking promote too dilute myself, the more the less, you seem to not understand our customers, they just want a cab, if i let them down they will phone you and it's the same over and over again, it's customers play their game too you know

If the App was so wonderful our call centres would be surplus by now, I'm only talking Edinburgh here, my comment others need not apply was tongue in cheek but we have both Android and I-phone App that is supported by a market leader in dispatch systems, that means we don't have to worry about updates and bugs and the cost that incurs, if I was a customer I would use a company with huge support and back up, a tried and trusted operation, all I'm saying is we are well established and at the moment with no app competition, we are not attractive to the big boys because Edinburgh is small fry compared to and as you alluded to the bigger city.

That proves that by promoting cab app you are effectively diluting your opportunity of work, the more cabbies who sign up knowing there is serious competition out there the less work you obtain, carry on believing though and I hope it works for in your area, it's a nice earner for me but insignificant overall, my options are covered and happy to play :D

Is Cab Happy your wee brother, he was calling for you earlier in the thread, you answered like a true horseman, charging straight in there, go on my old fannyadams #fannyadams
