Davies describes a general ethos at the Mail which is endemically racist, and stories are heavily reflective of a stereotype that depicts blacks as “bad”. A quotation from a senior journalist at the Mail highlights what is a consistent theme at the paper:

“He said: They phoned me early one morning and told me to drive about three hundred miles to cover a murder. It was a woman and her two children who’d been killed. I got an hour and a half into the journey, and the news desk called me on my mobile and said, ‘Come back.’ I said, ‘Why’s that?’ They said, ‘They’re black.’“ (Davies, p371)

Its the jeremy kyle of newspapers, feckin hate the thing.

As Davies admits though, politicians are scared of it and the paper itself only produces what its readers want.

The usual bollocks the LAW ffs sake this is about printing broadcasting opinions, the only ones we have access to at the moment normally are those supporting the establishment, occassionally the Daily Mirror will buck the trend and Brian Reade is normally worth a look other than that theres the TANKY's sheet the Morning Star which is OK but hardly inspiring and it practices its own censorship against progressive left wing thinking.

TANKY's let me explain refers to the Stalinist communist Party of Great Britain who still live in the days of the Red Army and the NKVD secret police.,

As for the NHS lets re-evaluate

1. most agree that government privatisation will destroy what remains of it.
2. most agree the result will be many lives lost and possibly us receiving a Profit making cabal such as exists in the USA
3. if that is the case many will die as they do on a daily basis in the USA

So do we need to stop this happening ??if not why not

I think we do if you agree what of these would be prepared to support??? or do you have an alternative ???

1 negotiate with the government.............not possible they have a majority and will vote the Privatisation in.

2. campaign with demos civil disobedience petitions etc

3. general strike to remove the government and replace it with one pledged to save the NHS.

of course it cant go on - but the answer is easy - anyone entering this country must have health insurance, whats the issue?

How do we save the NHS? - that's more difficult because the rot started with New Labour - in a far bigger way than Thatcher every dreamed of.

If you look at the NHS alone, in 2001-2, it was £196m. By 2005-6 it had grown to £542m. This year, 2012-13, it will have reached £1.76bn.

In fact NHS PFI repayments don't peak until 2029-30, when they hit £2.71bn a year.

But the biggest Department in terms of PFI is the Department of Health.

It has 118 current NHS PFI projects, with a capital value of £11.6bn. The sum total of the repayments, by the time they're made, will be £79.1bn.

Where is the money going?

Private contractors who agreed PFI deals with the Government are set to make billions of pounds in profit, with some due to see returns of up to 71 per cent.

An almost unknown City company, Innisfree, with only 14 staff, is the largest single player in the PFI market, owning or co-owning 269 PFI schools and 28 hospitals.

According to accounts filed at Companies House, Innisfree’s profit margin was 53 per cent last year. A successful FTSE 100 company makes margins of around 6 per cent. David Metter, the founder and chief executive of Innisfree, owns almost three-quarters of the company and collected pay and dividends of £8.6 million last year.

The PFI deals include:

A hospital which charged £52,000 for a job that cost £750. Demolishing a shelter for smokers resulted in the PFI contractor charging £2,600 a year for the “extra cleaning”.

A hospital in Bromley, south London, which will cost the NHS £1.2billion, more than 10 times what it is worth.

An empty school which will cost taxpayers £370,000 a year until 2027. Another school had to pay £302 for a socket, five times the cost of the equipment it wanted to plug in.

Military dog kennels which would have ended up costing more per night than a room in the Park Lane Hilton, London. The deal to replace facilities at the Defence Animal Centre in Melton Mowbray resulted in the sacking of the contractor and the scrapping of the contract.

In Belfast, a school closed after seven years but the PFI contractor must be paid £370,000 a year for the next 16 years.
