Double shift system.

Ever wondered why the NTA, TGWU, and all the other non-entities in the 12% of restricted authorities harp on about the double shift system? Well its simple, in a restricted area in order to drive a cab you have to go to one of the existing owners and in short be vetted, if your face fits you might get lucky? if it doesn’t fit then its tuff luck.

Worth thinking about isn't it?

One wonders who would serve the public if these owners didn't have jockeys?

One also wonders how many multiple owners such as Cummings in Cardiff, Connolly in Liverpool and Jones in Sefton would survive without the help of a Jockey? Well, Cummings, Connolly and Jones can only drive one cab, so I guess that answers my own question.

Ever wondered why these people don't want you to have your own cab and be able to pick up off the street? It's because you having your own Cab would put these people out of business.

That’s why they try to elevate themselves into prominent positions, just so they can keep you down and them up. And that’s why they hate people like me who can burst their bubble at the drop of a hat.

Regards

JD

The thing that annoys me about them making a virtue out of double-shifting is that they make it sound like they'rd be no cabs out after 5-6 if it wasn't for it.

Are LAs actually taken in by this kind of nonsense?

Yes councils are taken in and whats more it's the main plank of their frontal attack when they submit reasons for retaining numbers control. The TGWU submitted a report to Swindon to try and stop the council from de restricting numbers, their emphasis was on a double shift system and how it served the public better than an open system.

What they didn't state was the damming evidence from Waynne Cassey of the NTA who said "there was now a better service in Carlisle on a Friday, Saturaday and Sunday night since de restriction" than there was before de restriction.

That just about sums up the duplicity of these azzholes and thats why people like me will expose these liars at everry given oportunity.

It appears the only places that the world has ended is Mansfield and Gateshead.

Funny thing is that no-one really knew it had started their in the first place. :D

I agree but you must have some sympathy , with the poor sod who put his house up. Pity jacobs did not ask the owners . How much they payed for the plates, when they bought them and how much debt they were in . Mind you, they would give him a load of waffle . There can not be many 40,000 + for a plate in Liverpool . Most must as you say got them for F A .Streetcar.

I wasn't aware I had any peers, especially in the Taxi trade? Certainly not anyone you know. It's normally the case that people come to me for advice, not the other way around.

So he who elevates himself high enough to think that he can judge me, must first be in a position to know who and what he is judging?

I would only be guessing but I think all of the points you raised are highly unlikely to happen. But I could be wrong of course.
