Going down the motorway at a steady 65 mph this morning.
In the process of overtaking two HGV's.

Waboom! up flips the bonnet

I manage to stop safely on the hard shoulder, hazard lights working, phew 8)

The bonnet did not hit the windscreen, nor the hire sign :D =D> :D =D>

The force of the wind bent the bonnet "skeleton" way out of shape, the saving grace was the bonnet stay that kept the bonnet from wrapping itself round the windscreen, it did manage to pull the whole of the nearside wing in towards the engine, making the door catch slightly on the wing now. Ohhh! the paint I chipping...
A nice crease in metal where the nearside hinge is.

Heavy gauge metal, solid bonnet frame and hinges is probably what saved me :D

And yes! I did not close the bonnet properly this morning

/M

I bet Mrs Mace was very happy to get home after being stuck on the bonnet as a mascot to get you home

Wow, sorry to read about this. I might go check my bonnet securing arrangement. Is it insured? You should be able to source the panels but I guess shipping would be pricey. Thankfully, the inner wing/battery tray just bolts onto the chassis and the wing bolts onto that... Good luck

Wasn't there a safety catch on the bonnet...... IIRC there are two catches on an FX4 bonnet. One holds it shut firmly and the other is a safety in case the first one gives way.

One thing leads to Another, leads to an....

So, a bit of luck and chance meant that I ended up in a village not ten minutes away.

Had a five minute chat to a real gentleman roughly 70 yrs of age.

I'd love to repair your bonnet, you can leave it today and pick it up tomorrow  =D>

Honestly! I can not feel where the damage was  Better then before. Not craft - Art!!

He humbly replied that it's not so difficult when you've been doing it for 40 yrs =D>

:D M
