Artur, you do realise that had both CRT and City Cabs refused to back ECPH, your two companies regardless of how the airport was directing the tendering process. They would have been forced to back down and what's more. You could have forced ECPH, out of the Airport altogether.

Quite honestly, how your committees conduct themselves is utter madness. They and you are driving your trade into the ground.

It seems you want people to believe that you didn't want to drive taxis for a living anymore. And that's why you didn't go to the hearing. And I believe that
But when people tell you skull that the airport decided to have a cab rank and PH you don't want to believe that. The companies couldn't have forced the airport to back down as they would've just put the tender to another firm that would manage the rank. Remember, City Cabs aren't solely operating the rank at the airport. city cabs are "MANAGING" the rank at the airport. Street cars and ComCabs will have access too. CRT would have access but their rules dont allow it and the committee won't change it
Don’t think this couldn’t be done.
Okay, CRT and City, to a man, withdraw their services from the airport, and they also refuse to pay the drop of charge.
They then challenge BAA (or whoever it is now) through the courts for operating a restrictive practice, by reducing people in status to that of mere cattle and selling them on to their service provider. (It's never been tried before, and you would need good legal advice, but you've already seized the moral high ground.)
CRT and City then embark on a press campaign and lobby the council for their support in forcing the airport to open up.
Oh and there's the little matter of putting all your eggs in one basket.
The same thing happened when City Cabs broke ranks and signed up for the Waverley contract. All their mobiles were being sucked into the City Centre to service the rank and over a period of a few months, they had lost work all over Edinburgh to CRT and Ph. The increase in work only benefited City Cabs for a short while, but they ended up paying out millions for something that would have been free had they all stuck together.
It’s no different for ECPH, even if they had support from ComCabs or the Street Cars. It would be a shambles. Oh and remember, unlike the Waverley the Airport is approximately seven miles from the City Center. ECPH or ComCabs would be caught with their trousers down, and all their contract work and regular customers would be up for grabs.
At the very least, it’s about forcing the airport into a position of renegotiation on your terms.
