I had a call earlier from BBC Radio Leicester to say that there was a new twist on the story for the 6.30 pm news.
Apparently the Information Commissioner has contacted all Councils to make them aware of the situation so it would seem that they are on the case.

The public does not have a right to see for themselves if drivers are fit and proper.

That's a council's job.

The compensation question will be asked today. Anyone know a good solicitor for these matters? I don't share pork pies, you have to fight me for one of them.

Dear XXXX,
I have been asked by some of the people affected by having their details on the Melton Council website to look into the issue of compensation. Are the Council going to offer any compensation to these people or is this something that they will need to persue through the courts?
Regards,
XXXXXX

I cannot understand why any organisation would go to the trouble and expense of publishing documents like that on line in the first place

Because they are thick, and it's not their details.
