Actually, upon rereading my letter, it says it all. I know what's wrong with you three, you need to pay attention to the words. #-o

Quote:
My letter to the council:

May I thank you for the opportunity of renewing my Taxi driver's licence. However, I feel I must decline your most generous offer. To me at least, the prospect of working under the control of Trampton City Council is totally inconceivable. In fact, I would rather be dangled by my testicles over a pool of man eating piranhas, then seen to be humbling myself in some vain attempt to renew my licence.

Collectively, the Council Regulatory Committee (RC) and Cab Inspector Frank Smith of Lothian & Borders Police have shown by their actions to have no regard whatsoever for the rights of the individual. In fact, given the opportunity, would not hesitate to abuse their privileged positions, in an attempt to beat people down. Which is proven to be somewhat typical of how Trampton Council conducts itself when dealing with members of the public who question their authority.

With regard to myself, I think you were under the misapprehension I cared about driving taxis for a living and the subsequent suspension of my taxi licence. Unfortunately, I had already resigned myself to leave the taxi trade either by my own volition or at your behest as a consequence of standing up for my rights against serial abuses. As it turns out it appears to be a combination of the two.

Prior to my licence being suspended, I refused to allow myself to be judged by such a bunch of scurrilous and contemptible individuals. And now upon renewal of my licence the situation remains the same, the mere thought of coming before councillors to plead for my licence makes me feel sick to the pit of my stomach. I could not entertain doing something so undignified.

Although, I am more than happy to appear before the RC, at a public meeting. Should any of you develop a backbone and wish to discuss my grievances of your conduct with a view of protecting the rights of the individual in the future.

I am sure by now you have some indication of what you can do with my plastic taxi driver identification badge, but in case you are left in any doubt. Think of it as a four cornered suppository, and stick it up your arse.

You're proud of this letter aren't you? You do realise some spotty office clerk would have read it, binned it and then stamped REVOKED on your paperwork.

You have obviously no understanding of council procedure. Oh and the letter was sent to every member of the RC, and Cab Inspector Smith.

Oh and the Council Solicitor Donald Macleod. :D

So sorry, no spotty faced office clerk. :D :D :D :D

The exodus of Central is like the highland clearances!! It was great to see happy smiling faces at the Airport Rank this morning! There was no animosity as the sun came out on this historic day for City Cabs, Edinburgh's Premier Taxi Company.

The mood was lifted further as it was FOC to get through the barrier. What a great start to the Airport contract for undoubtably the best Taxi company Edinburgh has to offer. Well done to all for landing the "Holy Grail"

Private hire tycoon hit by airport taxi service dispute

A TYCOON from the Capital is locked in a dispute with city rivals over a contract to collect passengers from Edinburgh Airport, it has emerged.

Stevie Malcolm, who owns Edinburgh City Private Hire (ECPH), was set to send drivers to the airport to drum up trade as part of a lucrative five-year contract starting today.

Now rivals Central Taxis, the Capital’s largest black cab firm, have lodged a complaint with licensing chiefs over Malcolm’s vehicles being allowed to operate as if they are black cabs.

Under the agreed deal, ECPH and partners City Cabs will have exclusive access to a lane outside the terminal, with City queuing on one side and ECPH on the other.

But ECPH has only been granted a temporary trading licence while council officers consider Central’s objection, with a ruling due later this month. A source said: “They think this satisfies the law for private hire customers booking in advance.

“But Malcolm’s rivals are having none of it and have launched a legal fight to argue the set-up is contrary to the Civic Government (Scotland) Act. They say that, however you couch it, passengers will still be coming out of the airport terminal, seeing a queue of private hire cars, and jumping into one as if they were taxis.”

An airport spokesman said marshals would be on hand to offer passengers a choice between the two firms.

A lawyer for Mr Malcolm’s firm said: “ECPH are not in contravention of any legislation governing private hire vehicles at Edinburgh Airport.”

Central Taxis declined to comment.

Your comparison was with people being replaced with sheep, not old sheep being replaced with lambs.
I'm not even sure you are on your own wavelength.

Driver back and dancing as he got out cab! Incredible day so I hear. Plus a very nice bonus from the Airport letting City Cabs in free this morning.

Well after hearing the reports back from day one I think it's safe to say this Airport contract will be a success.

All smiles I gather from owners, drivers, marshalls, the professionals and the ones that normally moan their tits off.

Great work City Cabs......I'm booked up for Cancun!
