Last test I had, the tester guy advised the inner sills need replacing on my TX1 as there are too many pieces welded already and rot. I'm close to my next test now and I went to the garage to get some minor work done and enquired about replacement inner sills but was told they aren't available anymore. Garage apparently rang T&S too.

So, looks like I have to find a replacement cab? I really like my TX1, had it for over a decade now and don't like the TX2/TX4. I was hoping this cab would last me until the Nissan NV200 taxi was released as I was looking to purchase one of them.

Gawiths didn't have them, neither does Londontaxiparts.com. Can you tell me which place for sure sells new inner sills for TX1 and the price?

You could buy a pristine condition TX1 one from a London owner, due to the daft 15 year age limit

You can't be serious Skippy? Mine was rusting after only 3 years and like the OP, mine has very little original metal on the inner sills and completely new outer sills both sides, so much for " Build in Coventry with pride". That always makes me grin.................

In London they have a full steam clean and overhaul every year

I think mine would have taken more than an annual steam clean and "overhaul" to stop the rot! It's not a great advert for the British automotive industry...................best part is the Nissan engine 350.000 miles and never had the head off!

You wouldn't think we've been building cars in this country for a hundred years or so to look at some of the dismal things we churned out in the end.
Only some early Italian efforts can rust with the same sort of enthusiasm as they do and the italians at least had the excuse of using poor quality steel.
Its a shame that "Made in England" now means little if anything.
Having said that a decent metalworker could knock up some inner or outer sills, they could hardly be worse than the originals.

This is exactly what I did just now. Got a nice 1999 TX1 Auto from London for £1350 in excellent condition all over and resprayed about a year ago. Put it on a ramp to check underneath is solid (sills etc) before buying.

I thought the cab that I originally posted about in this thread (also 1999 TX1) would last me a long time with the new sills but some idiot crashed into the back of it and it's been written off.

I think you need to check the date of the original post.
