Not mad and not new.
Widely recognised and debated throughout Scotland for many years that English Tories have been aces in the hand of the SNP/devolution/independence pack.
Followed on, that English Tories are either arrogant, naive & foolish or extremely devious.

Few on either side of the Scotland debate have ever been comfortable with this.

Devolved, no change, except even devolved the SNP are bad for the trade.

PH will expand exponentially and subsume the taxi trade. Its response will be to become even more like PH and compete for contract work, leaving street customers unable to hail the company cars travelling past them empty. Ranks will overflow. PH will be allowed access to them to mask the problem. They will be allowed to do our hire work.

One of the biggest problem with the small pond Scotland would become, is the effect political financial
backers have on policy.

It is feared that the Marriage Equality issue, which would be a beacon for Scots' humanity throughout the world, has been put in the slow lane at the behest of Soutar, the SNP's big backer. he being a
Catholic. If this were the case we'd all be subject to Catholic dogma whether we believe their tripe or not.

And we must remember that the PH trade has a similar big backer, and he's already flexed his muscles in a harmful way to our trade. The link from Woodburn to the top of the SNP party is well documented, there is no doubt, and the big backer is lurking menacingly in the background, poised to respond as necessary.

Anything which unfetters SNP control over us is bad for individuals, bad for our trade and bad for the country.

No one I've spoken to in the cab thinks independence is a goer. But we have to be careful. because apathy will deliver control to Salmond. And when he said he was here to help, and he didn't, well doesn't that suggest he is a liar too?

NO

Sad thing is that Independence could have been a fillip for the nation. It could have satisfied many natural aspirations for self determination.

But the timing is wrong, and the manner of the proposal couldn't be worse.

A nation free of the Monarchy, free of Westminster and free of Europe, with a properly structured Parliament, and a bill of rights in place, peacefully cohabiting with all, and trading globally, could have been a desirable proposition.

But that's not what is on the table.

I think the ideal has slipped us by.

You really do talk nonsense Jasbar. Never come across such a dour pessimistic individual. Abandon the vote on independance cause Jasbar says so!

Free of the monarchy? free of Westminster and free of Europe?? what????

The timing could'nt be more appropriate.....Why make such an important decision when the good times are rolling??

Now whats on the table isnt perfect but know it all but no f all clowns like you just dismiss everything.

Edinburgh Taxis and PH would be the worse off for Independence, it's to close to England and if a separate Scottish Currency of fluctuating value along with a separate tax system came in to play then you could kiss all your cross border work goodbye, who would you pay income tax to if you had a run from Edinburgh to Newcastle or Carlisle, part of the fare would be earned In England and part in Scotland and paid for in either Sterling or some obscure Scottish currency like a Bawbee or something.

Utter tosh.
Tell me, if you got a job going to Paris, would you charge part of the fare in Euros and seek out the French tax people to give a share to?
No, you'd pay income tax according to where you live, just like you do now, and you'd charge the fare in whatever currency you normally accept.
Now I know it's unlikely, considering your location, but I'm sure it's happened with some of our more southerly bretheren and I dare say it's a common occurence for some of the Ulster lads to have fares going to the Republic.

BTW I accept Sterling (Scottish, English, Ulster, Channel Islands and Isle of Man). I have also accepted Euros and US Dollars on occasion.

That income tax crap you just spouted is what I'd call delusional. Even a committed unionist like you could have worked out what a pile of shite that was. Your fear is showing.

At least 75% No? Who are you trying to kid?

Yes we read the papers up here. Even with their usual bias, I dont recall any of them putting the independence vote as low as 25%

Must have been the sheep shaggers gazette. :D
