My Fairway Driver has tiny microphones and speakers front and rear, assume from an intercom, there is also a CCDS radio modem fitted in the front nearside above where your feet would go if it had a seat there. Are the two connected or as I believe 2 parts of different systems. The radio modem I think is a legacy of a dial a cab type operation and the speakers and mics are from an old intercom.

Where would the rest of the intercom have been and what is required to re-instate it, and secondly is the modem of any value to anyone?

I doubt the modem would be of any use to anyone,as for intercom check in the centre console, unscrew the cash tray thing (the tray just behind gearlever)and id guess it will be in there.

Thanks, had a quick look, nothing under there but a load of wires and connectors and two little black boxes and what appears to be a small sounder. Will have to look for a cheap one and start again.

Hi,
I fitted an intercom in mine because it never had one. Wolf Elec are the company that make them. The box for the intercom is about 5x4x1 inches and I placed it inside the centre console in a shielded silvery bag (as apparently iPhones can cause them to make funny noises if not shielded).
Wolf sell them directly and they work quite well but they are not particularly cheap.

Checked out the Wolf system, looks really good, not in my price range though I'm afraid.

If you want a cheaper option you could allways get a couple of those baby monitors,or drill some circular holes in the perspex angled partition.Failing that get a hearing aid :D

Does the Wolf system have full duplex?

I'd LOVE an intercom, time to save up... #-o

Perhaps we ought to have a parts swop section, I've got a good tip up and swivel seat from fairway driver, any swops.

Rich idea!
The only problem: almost everybody has already got a good swivel seat in his taxi - and who's got a spare Wolf system in good condition?
But nothing is lost: a Canadian bartered his way from one paper clip to a house in a series of swops over a year : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_red_paperclip
