My fairway is blue, not black. Aside from the difficulty in matching the colour which is a sort of midnight blue I;m unsure what it is asthe last time I tried any paintwork it reacted badly to both acrylic and cellulose.
Anyone any idea what sort of paint was originally used?.

Here's some info I retrieved from the net, concerning Fairway colours:
Midnight blue
- Colour family: blue body
- Brand code: MD99
- First year: 1986
- Variant code: NO 1
- Mixing scheme: 2K HS+

Don't ask me what it means #-o - a professional should know :!:

Very much doubt it will all be original paintwork, probally been matched up at some point.Usually take the air vent at front of amd take to paint shop to match up.Get a aerosol and do it ! Seen what you capable of,youll be fine :D

Might be a daft question, I need to do a touch up or two is black just black or does it have to be a certain one and type?

Not a daft question at all,one of the members of a club I'm in has a black car and has had problems matching the colour.

paint fades, so the original colour may not match, you need a GOOD paintshop - they will have a paint scheme and mix what you need

Normal gloss black will be fine

I've tried aerosols and they just make the existing paint lift or crack. I had a sprayer look at it yesterday and he reckons its been resprayed a couple of times and a sealer has been used between coats which is now being rubbed through when repairing and allows the paint to react. The only way is to paint strip it and start again.
This is a no no as the car doesn't justify all that work.

I remember using Tekaloid from a long while ago although I had forgotten the name, thanks for the link. I think I'll get some and paint the thing black,I don't like the blue anyway.

From what I recall it will go over anything, but from then on you HAVE to use Tekaloid only
