i'm going to buy a new volkswagen se wav(shuttle) and am thinking of going for the 174 bhp over the 130 bhp. but have been told the 174 chews up front tyres a lot quicker! anyone know of this?
i know flepp has a 130 and his seems powerfull enough as he says!
buying from local volkswagen dealer where taxi drivers get a good discoount!

i cant see how it gets through tyres quicker than the 130, surely it depends on the drivers right foot?

Maybe, but drivers tend to use what power is there, not ration it because they have a more powerful engine.

If you are overtaking the you will tend to floor the peddle, not matter whether you have a smaller or bigger engine.

I think that with all the extra power and torque available then the more powerful engine will tend to chew through the tyres more quickly.

Hi Whizz, I would just go for the 130hp, there`s more than enough power, if you want more later you can have it chipped with super chips for about £500 which will take it to about 170hp, with the 174hp you may use a bit more fuel and the way the 130 pulls off you will definately go through the tyres quicker in the 174, I replaced my front tyres at 16000mls. Fantastic vehicle I would definately recommend them.

mate of mine has got a seven seater Jubilee VW and its very nice. maybe too nice for the people we pick up.
another mate has a long wheel base as a PH. now that has got to be the biggest taxi/ph ever.
the other day he was advertising for a conductor for it.
